The southpaw will remain with the organization after being removed from the 40-man roster. He will still get to attend major league camp for spring training, but Girodo will face long odds to earn his spot back with lefties J.P. Howell, Aaron Loup and Matt Dermody all ahead of him in the bullpen hierarchy.

Girodo was recalled a few times this season, but failed to capitalize on his major league opportunities. He earned those chances based on a stellar start with Triple-A Buffalo -- he posted a 1.50 ERA prior to the IL All-Star game. However, it was a different story in the second half as Girodo earned a 6.11 ERA with a .342 BAA after the break. With the Jays' bullpen healthy and performing better than they were earlier in the year, Girodo was not invited back up once rosters expanded last week.
