Lamet (1-2) took the loss Wednesday against the Diamondbacks, allowing five runs on seven hits without walking a batter over just three innings. He struck out four. Lamet was activated off the IL to make his first start since 2021 and did not fare well. The 30-year-old gave up three runs on four hits in the opening frame and then surrendered another two runs in the second before tossing a scoreless third. He was pulled after three at 71 pitches after reaching 63 pitches during the final start of his rehab assignment. Assuming manager Bud Black keeps him in the rotation, Lamet will line up to take the mound next week in a home matchup against the Giants.... See More ... See Less

Rockies' Dinelson Lamet: Comes off IL to start Wednesday
Colorado reinstated Lamet (back) off the 15-day injured list to start against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday. Lamet ended up missing close to a month after being placed on the 15-day injured list May 4 with stiffness in his lower back. The right-hander was operating out of the bullpen at the time, but he was stretched out during his minor-league rehab assignment and will now get a chance to give the Rockies' rotation an added boost. Lamet showed flashes of brilliance as a starter when he was a member of the Padres, but he's struggled to be able to stick on the mound with a litany of injuries from 2017 through 2021. He's an intriguing speculative add, and one that makes more sense to have in a fantasy lineup when he's not pitching in the unfriendly confines of Coors Field. One of those opportunities for Lamet comes Wednesday in his outing against Arizona.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Dinelson Lamet: Likely to return, start Wednesday
The Rockies are expected to reinstate Lamet (back) from the 15-day injured list Wednesday and have him start that night in Arizona, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. After making the third start of his rehab assignment with Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday, Lamet returned to Colorado on Sunday and was spotted throwing on the field. The right-hander stretched out to 63 pitches in his final start with Albuquerque and looks poised to provide aid to a Colorado rotation that has been plagued by injury and poor performance throughout the season. Though Lamet has largely operated as a reliever in the majors for the past two and a half seasons, he delivered a 3.78 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 21.4 K-BB% across 56 starts with San Diego from 2017 through 2021. The 30-year-old right-hander could make for an interesting speculative pickup in deeper leagues, especially after he dazzled over his three-start rehab assignment (0.84 ERA, 0.66 WHIP and 11:1 K:BB in 10.2 innings).... Rockies' Dinelson Lamet: Looking sharp on rehab assignment
Lamet (back) struck out six over 4.2 scoreless innings in his rehab start with Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday. He gave up just two hits and one walk. Making the third start of his rehab assignment with Albuquerque, Lamet delivered an impressive follow-up effort after he tossed four perfect innings his last time out May 20. Just as he did in his prior two starts, Lamet did well to pound the zone, permitting just one free pass on the night while spotting 42 of his 63 pitches for strikes. The Rockies haven't decided whether Lamet will need one more rehab start to build his pitch count or if he'll be ready to return from the 15-day injured list for his next outing, but the right-hander at least looks like he'll get an extended trial in the big-league rotation. Since the second half of the 2021 season, Lamet has worked exclusively as a reliever in the big leagues, but he turned in a 3.78 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 21.4 K-BB% across 56 starts with San Diego from 2017 through 2021.... Rockies' Dinelson Lamet: Another rehab start Friday
Manager Bud Black said Thursday that Lamet (back) will make another rehab start Friday with Triple-A Albuquerque, Patrick Lyons of TheDNVR.com reports. Lamet is being stretched out for a possible rotation role with the Rockies as he nears the end of his recovery from a back injury. He's looked sharp in his two rehab starts so far with Albuquerque, tallying five strikeouts with no walks over six innings of one-run ball.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Dinelson Lamet: Being considered for rotation
Lamet (back) could be used as a starter when he returns from the injured list, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. Lamet hasn't started a major-league game since 2021 and hasn't been a full-time starter since 2020. He seems ill-suited for the role at this point, but the Rockies' rotation has been hit hard by injuries so it appears they might be willing to give it a shot. Lamet has made two rehab starts with Triple-A Albuquerque but figures to require multiple more to get stretched out if Colorado does indeed bring him back as a starter.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Dinelson Lamet: Starting rehab assignment Tuesday
Lamet (back) will report to Triple-A Albuquerque to begin an injury rehab assignment Tuesday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. Lamet was able to participate in a live bullpen session Saturday, and now the right-hander will get a chance to face competition in the Pacific Coast League for the Isotopes beginning Tuesday. He'll likely work in a handful of games and then have a chance to return to the majors as soon as next weekend in a mid-to-late innings relief role.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Dinelson Lamet: Participates in live bullpen
Lamet (back) participated in a live bullpen session Saturday, Patrick Lyons of TheDNVR.com reports. Rockies manager Bud Black told reporters after the session that he looked healthy with a focus on improving his delivery and confidence when he returns. Lamet has dealt with injuries throughout his career, but he has a chance to return to the Colorado bullpen in a mid-to-late innings role within the next couple weeks.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Dinelson Lamet: Placed on 15-day IL
Lamet was placed on the 15-day injured list Thursday with lower-back stiffness. Lamet has been hammered for 16 runs -- 15 earned -- on 14 hits and 12 walks through 10.2 innings of relief this season with the Rockies. He'll likely head on a minor-league rehab assignment before returning to try to get into a better groove.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Dinelson Lamet: Behind Johnson for saves
Lamet struck out two and allowed two hits in a scoreless seventh inning Thursday and was not used in Friday's save situation against the Padres. Pierce Johnson got the ball in the ninth inning Friday and successfully protected a 4-1 lead, allowing one hit while striking out two. It's unclear whether Lamet would have figured into the eighth or ninth inning if he hadn't already pitched Thursday. Regardless, for now, Johnson looks like the top Rockies reliever to roster with Daniel Bard on the 15-day injured list due to anxiety.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Dinelson Lamet: Reaches deal with Colorado
Lamet signed a one-year, $5 million contract with the Rockies on Wednesday. Lamet was claimed off waivers by the Rockies in August after he was traded to the Brewers and designated for assignment, and he was able to avoid arbitration with his new team. The 30-year-old allowed 13 earned runs over 12.1 innings with San Diego prior to the trade but pitched better for Colorado with a 4.05 ERA across 20 frames.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Dinelson Lamet: Effective across two innings
Lamet allowed one hit across two scoreless innings with four strikeouts to earn a hold Tuesday against the Dodgers. Lamet was claimed off waivers Aug. 5 and has stuck in the majors since, appearing in 19 games for the Rockies. He's pitched primarily in low-leverage situations, though he has racked up three holds and also worked multiple innings four times. All told, Lamet maintained a 4.05 ERA with a 29:10 K:BB across 20 innings during his time with Colorado.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Dinelson Lamet: Claimed by Colorado
Lamet was claimed off waivers by the Rockies on Friday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. Lamet was acquired by the Brewers in the trade that sent Josh Hader to San Diego on Monday, but he was designated for assignment just two days later after the Brewers added more relief depth. Lamet has had a poor 2022 campaign, struggling to a 9.49 ERA and a 14.5 percent walk rate in 13 relief appearances at the big-league level, but the Rockies have little reason not to take a flier on a pitcher who has flashed plenty of potential both as a starter and as a reliever.... Brewers' Dinelson Lamet: DFA'd after acquisition
The Brewers designated Lamet for assignment Wednesday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. One of four players the Brewers received in return for closer Josh Hader in Monday's deal with the Padres, Lamet will be moved off the 40-man roster without having ever appeared for Milwaukee. According to Adam McCalvy of MLB.com, general manager David Stearns said that while the Brewers liked Lamet's live arm and strong prior track record of experience at the MLB level, finding a spot for him in the bullpen became too challenging in the wake of Tuesday's trade deadline. Lamet is under contract for $4.78 million in 2022, so the Brewers are hoping that salary may be enough to deter another team from claiming the right-hander off waivers, which would allow him to remain in the farm system at Triple-A Nashville.... Brewers' Dinelson Lamet: Moved to Milwaukee in megadeal
The Brewers acquired Lamet, left-handers Taylor Rogers and Robert Gasser and outfielder Esteury Ruiz from the Padres on Monday in exchange for left-hander Josh Hader, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. Lamet may have been the headliner for the Brewers had this trade happened a couple years ago when he was a front-of-the-rotation arm for the Padres, but after enduring a litany of elbow problems, he converted to a full-time relief role ahead of the 2022 campaign. The right-hander has been able to steer clear of the injured list so far this season, but he hadn't emerged as a trusted late-inning arm for the Friars, as he turned in a 9.49 ERA, 2.03 WHIP and 16:9 K:BB across 12.1 innings out of the bullpen. The Brewers will see if they can coax better results out of him in the final two months of the campaign before deciding whether to tender him a contract ahead of his final year of arbitration this winter.... Padres' Dinelson Lamet: Recalled by San Diego
Lamet was recalled from Triple-A El Paso on Tuesday. Lamet spent the bulk of the last two-plus months in the minors, but he was brought back to take the roster spot of MacKenzie Gore (elbow), who landed on the 15-day injured list in the corresponding move. San Diego's starting rotation is full at the moment, so expect Lamet to work in relief like he did when he was with the big club earlier in the year.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Dinelson Lamet: Optioned to Triple-A
Lamet was optioned to Triple-A El Paso on Monday. Lamet was called up by San Diego on Saturday, but he'll head back to the minors after he gave up three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out four in 2.1 innings against the Giants on Sunday. Right-hander Reiss Knehr was recalled Monday to take Lamet's place in the major-league bullpen.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Dinelson Lamet: Back in big leagues
Lamet was recalled by the Padres on Saturday. Lamet was demoted in mid-May after struggling to a 9.72 ERA across his first 10 relief outings of the year. Both his 23.8 percent strikeout rate and his 16.7 percent walk rate represent career worsts. He's been far better in nine outings for Triple-A El Paso, cruising to a 0.93 ERA and 34.9 percent strikeout rate, though his 11.6 percent walk rate remains elevated. Craig Stammen (shoulder) landed on the injured list in a corresponding move.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Dinelson Lamet: Demoted to Triple-A
Lamet was optioned to Triple-A El Paso on Friday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports. Lamet allowed runs in only one of his first five appearances this season, but he'll head to the minors after giving up eight earned runs over three frames in his past five outings. Robinson Cano was added to the major-league roster in a corresponding move.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Dinelson Lamet: Continues to struggle
Lamet allowed three runs on one hit and two walks over two-thirds of an inning in Saturday's loss to Miami. The right-hander had trouble finding the plate in the outing, throwing only 11 of 24 pitches for strikes and walking two batters. He has given up at least one earned run in three of his past four appearances to push his season ERA to 8.59. Once a promising starter, Lamet's stock has cratered due to injury, and his first campaign as a full-time reliever has yet to pan out as the Padres had hoped.... See More ... See Less
