The Orioles claimed Ramos off waivers from the Cardinals on Friday, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports.
Ramos has been bouncing around for the past month after he was DFA'd by the White Sox in January. Chicago then traded Ramos to Baltimore, but the Orioles then DFA'd the third baseman before the Cardinals claimed him and then designated Ramos for assignment themselves earlier this week. Ramos will provide organizational corner infield depth for the Orioles if he sticks around.

Ramos is making his first start of the spring, as his lone other Cactus League appearance came as a backup DH in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Angels. Since he's still operating with some restrictions with his throwing while he works through a sore right elbow, Ramos may not be ready to play the infield anytime soon, but serving as a DH should still allow him to pick up enough at-bats this spring to keep him in contention for an Opening Day roster spot.
Ramos (elbow) said Wednesday that he's continued to hit and field grounders during the White Sox's full-squad workouts, but he has yet to begin a throwing program, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports. "Right now I'm feeling pretty good. I've been hitting. I've been doing pretty much everything," Ramos said. "The only thing I haven't been doing is throwing for now."
Ramos is managing a sore right elbow, but at this point in spring training, the issue isn't anything that is expected to keep him from being ready to go for Opening Day. That said, his initial game action during the Cactus League is likely to come at designated hitter, and he'll need to show that he can throw across the diamond at full velocity without discomfort before he's cleared to play in the infield. Ramos reached the big leagues for the first time last season, slashing .202/.252/.333 with three home runs and 11 RBI in 107 plate appearances across two stints with the White Sox.

Ramos was the biggest bright spot in another loss for Chicago, as he swatted a two-run shot to left field in the eighth inning for his first major-league home run. The 22-year-old had been finding big-league pitching hard to figure out prior to Monday, as he was batting just .196 with one walk over 48 plate appearances. Ramos has some pop -- he went deep as many as 22 times in a season (2022) in the minors -- and he could get some increased run down the stretch with the White Sox understandably looking ahead to the future.
