Anthony went 3-for-7 with a walk, a double, two home runs and two additional runs scored across both ends of Saturday's doubleheader for Double-A Portland. The 19-year-old prospect was introduced to Double-A late last season, slashing .343/.477/.543 over 44 plate appearances, and made efforts during the offseason to improve himself. Anthony worked on his body, adding 20 pounds to make a bigger impact this season, per Ben Weinrib of MLB.com. "Now that I've had that experience and had an offseason to work and put some size on and get stronger, I feel like at whatever level I'm at ... just that feeling of knowing that I belong and can hang with this type of competition," Anthony said. He's slashing .333/.385/.708 with five extra-base hits, four RBI and six runs through the season's first six games.... See More ... See Less

Red Sox's Roman Anthony: Promoted to Double-A
Anthony has been promoted by the Red Sox from High-A Greenville to Double-A Portland, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports. Anthony has been one of the biggest risers among prospects this season and has now reached the Double-A level in his first full season at just 19 years of age. The left-handed hitting outfielder has collected a .265/.396/.459 batting line with 13 home runs, 13 stolen bases and a 113:78 K:BB over 96 games between Low-A Salem and Greenville in 2023.... Red Sox's Roman Anthony: Pushed aggressively
Anthony is hitting .320 with two home runs and an 8:4 K:BB in six games since getting promoted to High-A Greenville. The toolsy outfielder slashed .228/.376/.316 with one home run and 11 steals in 42 games with Single-A Salem, although his .285 BABIP supressed his numbers. On the flip side, he is playing a bit over his head thus far with the Drive (.400 BABIP), but Anthony has showcased a strong command of the strike zone to go with projectable power and above-average speed in his full-season debut. He turned 19 in May, so he is one of the youngest hitters at High-A.... See More ... See Less
