  • Brewers' Owen Miller: Batting second Tuesday

Miller (forearm) is starting at second base and batting second Tuesday versus the Blue Jays. Miller was removed from Sunday's series finale against the Giants after taking a pitch off his right forearm, but X-rays came back negative for any fractures and he's apparently feeling better following the Brewers' team off day Monday. The 26-year-old holds an impressive .330/.371/.513 slash line with four home runs and six stolen bases in 38 games this season.

  • Brewers' Owen Miller: X-rays negative

Miller (forearm) underwent X-rays that came back negative Sunday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Miller exited Sunday's game against the Giants with a bruised right forearm, and further testing didn't reveal any structural damage. He's considered day-to-day for now, and manager Craig Counsell hopes Miller will be able to return to action for Tuesday's series opener in Toronto.

  • Brewers' Owen Miller: Sleeper hitters for Week 10 (May 29-June 4)

Owen Miller's hot hitting -- .348 (24 for 69) with four home runs in his past 19 games -- has earned him a regular spot in the Brewers lineup for now. And while it may not be all that sustainable, it's hard to argue against him as a hot-hand play with the Brewers having the fourth-best hitter matchup, especially since you can start him everywhere but shortstop and catcher. Sounds like his removal Sunday with a bruised forearm is no big deal.

  • Brewers' Owen Miller: Leaves early with forearm bruise

Miller was removed ahead of the sixth inning of Sunday's game against the Giants with a bruised right forearm, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. He went 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI prior to departing. The Brewers are describing Miller's removal as precautionary after he was able to take his base upon being hit by a pitch in the bottom of the fourth inning, then proceeded to play an inning in the field before exiting the contest. After submitting another two-hit effort prior to being lifted from the contest, Miller is now slashing an impressive .330/.371/.513 on the season. With the Brewers off Monday, Miller will get an extra day to recover before the team returns to action Tuesday in Toronto.

  • Brewers' Owen Miller: In leadoff spot Thursday

Miller is hitting leadoff Thursday night against the Giants. Miller will serve as the tablesetter for the Brewers as they face a string of Giants relievers, beginning with left-handed opener Scott Alexander. Miller, 26, has posted a tremendous .400 batting average and 1.103 OPS over his last 62 plate appearances dating back to May 3.

  • Brewers' Owen Miller: Hits home run from cleanup spot

Miller went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 4-0 win over the Astros. Miller moved into the cleanup spot Wednesday after going 3-for-4 from the sixth spot in Tuesday's win. After failing to reach in his first two at-bats, the versatile Miller launched a solo shot off Brandon Bielak in the seventh to extend Milwaukee's lead to 3-0. Miller has been on an absolute tear in May, racking up 24 hits (10 for extra bases), eight RBI and 10 runs scored across 16 appearances.

  • Brewers' Owen Miller: Bumps up to cleanup spot

Miller will start at third base and bat cleanup in Wednesday's game against the Astros. After hitting sixth and going 3-for-4 with a home run, a stolen base, two RBI and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 6-0 win, Miller will be rewarded with a move to the cleanup spot in the series finale. Making his eighth consecutive start Wednesday, Miller seems to have solidified himself as an everyday player at this point, and he looks as though he could gain some traction in the heart of the order while he's swinging a hot bat. Jesse Winker, meanwhile, will drop from second to sixth in the order Wednesday after having failed to hit a home run in any of his 115 plate appearances this season.

  • Brewers' Owen Miller: Tallies three hits, steal

Miller went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer, a stolen base and scored twice in Tuesday's win over the Astros. Miller singled his first two times up and wound up swiping his fifth bag of the year. His big hit of the night came in the eighth inning when he took Rafael Montero deep to left to put the Brewers up 6-0. Tuesday's performance added on to what's already been a productive month at the plate for Miller. The 26-year-old is slashing .404/.407/.667 with three homers, seven RBI, nine runs, two steals and a 1:10 BB:K over 15 games in May. His hot bat has earned him more consistent playing time over the last few weeks and he's even made a handful of starts atop the lineup when facing lefties.

  • Brewers' Owen Miller: Back on bench Monday

Miller is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cardinals. Miller had started in each of the past four games, with two apiece coming against left-handed and right-handed pitchers. Though he's currently in the midst of a seven-game hitting streak and is now slashing .314/.338/.443 on the season, Miller looks as though he'll remain in a utility role for the time being, with the majority of his starts coming versus southpaws.

  • Brewers' Owen Miller: Strong showing in Friday's win

Miller went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, a double and two total runs scored in Friday's 5-1 win over the Royals. Miller was a triple shy of the cycle, though he has just one three-bagger in his career. He's hit safely in his last five games, going 8-for-18 (.444) over that span. His homer was his first of the year, and he's added six RBI, three stolen bases and nine runs scored while slashing .323/.348/.435 through 62 plate appearances. He's starting to get a look at leadoff versus southpaws, but he's still in a fairly strict platoon role at second base, with Brice Turang facing most righties.

  • Brewers' Owen Miller: Another look at leadoff

Miller is getting a second straight start out of the leadoff spot Friday versus the Royals. Both leadoff looks have come against left-handed pitching -- Wednesday against Clayton Kershaw and Friday against Josh Taylor. Miller has batted .370/.400/.407 through 30 plate appearances this year off southpaws. He's slashing .226/.250/.290 in 32 plate appearances versus righties.

  • Brewers' Owen Miller: Swipes third bag

Miller went 1-for-4 with one run scored and one steal in Friday's 5-3 loss against the Red Sox. Miller has stolen a base in consecutive games to jump his season total up to three. He appears to be benefitting from the new rules, as he had just four stolen bases in 190 career games prior to the 2023 season. The 26-year old came around to score after his steal thanks to a Christian Yelich single in the third inning. Miller is off to a good start at the plate too, hitting .286 (8-for-28) through 11 contests.

  • Brewers' Owen Miller: Gets third straight start

Miller will start in left field and bat seventh in Wednesday's game against the Mariners. As per usual, the righty-hitting Miller is included in the lineup versus a lefty (Marco Gonzales), but the 26-year-old looks like he'll begin to see more opportunities against right-handed pitching in the wake of Garrett Mitchell (shoulder) joining Tyrone Taylor (elbow) on the 10-day injured list. Miller had already started against right-handers in the first two games of the series in Seattle, recording a hit in both of those contests.

  • Brewers' Owen Miller: Snags steal in win

Miller went 2-for-5 with a double and a stolen base in Friday's victory over the Padres. Miller started Friday for just the fourth time in 14 games, but he capitalized on the opportunity, recording both his first multi-hit game and steal since joining the Brewers over the offseason. Miller primarily played first base last season with the Guardians, but with a couple veterans occupying that spot in Milwaukee, all four of his starts this year have come at second base.

  • Brewers' Owen Miller: Cracks Opening Day roster

Miller was informed Monday that he's clinched a spot on the Brewers' Opening Day roster, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. The decision came down to Miller and Joey Wiemer for the final position player roster spot with the Brew Crew. Miller already being on the 40-man roster likely played a part in the decision, although he also earned it this spring with a .916 OPS and added versatility in showing he can handle center field. The 26-year-old should get some starts against lefties.

  • Brewers' Owen Miller: Angling toward roster spot

Miller went 0-for-2 with a walk during Saturday's Cactus League game against the Royals and could be hitting his way onto the Brewers' Opening Day roster this spring, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports. Miller has gone 8-for-20 with four doubles during Cactus League play and is also being used some in center field, a position he's never played in pro ball. The Brewers are looking for additional right-handed help in the outfield with Tyrone Taylor (elbow) out a while, and Miller certainly would enhance his chances of cracking the Opening Day roster if he can at least be passable in the outfield. The 26-year-old was acquired from the Guardians in December for a player to be named later or cash.

  • Brewers' Owen Miller: Heading to Milwaukee

Miller was traded from the Guardians to the Brewers on Wednesday in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations. Miller appeared in 130 games for Cleveland last year and slashed .243/.301/.351 with six homers, 53 runs, 51 RBI and two stolen bases. He played at first base, second base, third base and served as a designated hitter in 2022, and he'll likely have a better chance to carve out playing time in Milwaukee since Kolten Wong was traded to the Mariners in early December.

  • Guardians' Owen Miller: Accounts for margin of victory

Miller went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Royals. Miller capped off the Guardians' five-run fifth inning with his homer, which was his sixth of the season. It also ended up being just enough for Cleveland to earn the win. Since the start of September, Miller has gone 16-for-63 (.254) with three extra-base hits, seven RBI and six runs scored. That's just a tick better than his .243/.301/.351 slash line for the year. The infielder has added 51 RBI, 53 runs scored, 26 doubles, a triple and two stolen bases while serving as a short-side platoon option at designated hitter, first base and second base.

  • Guardians' Owen Miller: Picks up second steal

Miller went 0-for-3 with two walks, a stolen base and two runs scored in Tuesday's 10-7 extra-innings win over the White Sox. Miller had sat out each of the last two games after playing both halves of Saturday's doubleheader versus the Twins. His 10-game hitting streak ended Tuesday, but he was able to get aboard twice with his first multi-walk game since June 26. The infielder is up to a .246/.302/.350 slash line with two steals, five home runs, 48 RBI and 51 runs scored through 123 contests. Still, he's been more of a part-time player in September, with Tyler Freeman seeing more time as a utility infielder lately.

  • Guardians' Owen Miller: Riding pine Friday

Miller isn't in the lineup Friday against the Twins. Miller drew four consecutive starts this week and went 6-for-15 with a double, a run and two strikeouts across that span. However, he'll be on the bench for a second consecutive matchup while Josh Naylor starts at first base and bats cleanup.
