  • Marlins' Max Acosta: Bumped to Triple-A

The Marlins optioned Acosta to Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports. Acosta's option to Triple-A will act as a promotion of sorts, as he spent all of last season in Double-A as part of the Rangers organization. The 22-year-old went 3-for-11 with a home run in his first spring with the Marlins, and a lack of depth in the big-league infield keeps the door open for Acosta to debut in 2025.

  • Marlins' Max Acosta: Sent to Miami

The Rangers traded Acosta to the Marlins on Tuesday alongside Echedry Vargas and Brayan Mendoza in exchange for Jake Burger, Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.com reports. In 104 games with Double-A Frisco last season, Acosta slashed .286/.351/.423 with 56 RBI and swiped 26 bags. He was selected to the Rangers' 40-man roster in November to protect him from the upcoming Rule 5 Draft, which means he will now have a spot on Miami's 40-man roster. While the 22-year-old is unlikely to crack the big-league squad out of spring training, a promotion to Triple-A Jacksonville could come in the near future.

  • Rangers' Max Acosta: Contract selected

The Rangers selected Acosta to their 40-man roster Tuesday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports. Acosta spent his entire 2024 season in Double-A Frisco. He slashed .286/.351/.423 with eight home runs and 58 strikeouts over 433 plate appearances. It was the infielder's fourth season in the minors and the numbers he tallied were his best yet. The 22-year-old is now protected from the Rule 5 Draft in December.

  • Rangers' Maximo Acosta: Looks healthy again

Acosta (thoracic outlet syndrome surgery) took part in an intrasquad game Sunday at the Rangers' minor-league camp. Acosta's involvement in the intrasquad game signals that he's healthy again after undergoing surgery in August. The teenage shortstop made his pro debut with the Rangers' rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate in 2021, slashing .246/.279/.393 with a home run and seven stolen bases over 68 plate appearances.

  • Rangers' Maximo Acosta: Undergoes thoracic outlet surgery

Acosta recently underwent surgery to address thoracic outlet syndrome and will miss the rest of the season, Levi Weaver of The Athletic reports. Acosta received his first taste of professional ball with the rookie-level ACL Rangers this year, but his campaign was cut short due to the injury. He hit .246/.279/.393 with one homer, five RBI, 11 runs and seven stolen bases in 17 games. The 18-year-old will have over five months to recover before the start of spring training.
