Tigers' Dillon Dingler: Throwing to bases Tuesday
Dingler (elbow) is scheduled to advance to throwing to bases Tuesday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Dingler has been eased into a throwing program in Tigers camp after having arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow in January. The 27-year-old has seen action in a couple Grapefruit League contests as a designated hitter, but it's unclear when he will be ready to catch in a spring training game. As long as he continues to progress without setbacks, Dingler is expected to be ready for Opening Day.

Tigers' Dillon Dingler: Set for spring debut at DH
Dingler (elbow) is batting fifth as the designated hitter in Friday's Grapefruit League game against the Phillies, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
The 27-year-old catcher is coming back from arthroscopic surgery in January on his right elbow, and he's still working through his throwing progression. Dingler has been fully participating in all other baseball activities, so he'll enter the lineup Friday as the DH. He could gain full clearance within the next week and should be good to go for the start of the regular season.

Tigers' Dillon Dingler: Nearing return
Dingler (elbow) is working through a return-to-play throwing progression this week and is expected to be ready to return in early March, MLB.com reports.
Dingler underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow at the end of January and has been working his way back in recent weeks. He has been taking part in all other baseball activities, and now his throwing seems to be nearly back to normal as well. With more than a month to go until Opening Day, Dingler doesn't seem to be in any danger of missing regular-season contests, and he should be Detroit's clear top catcher after a strong 2025 campaign.

Tigers' Dillon Dingler: Still limited in throwing program
The Tigers announced Sunday that Dingler (elbow) is working his way through a throwing progression, but he's taking part in all other baseball activities, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
After a Gold Glove-winning 2025 campaign, Dingler underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow Jan. 28 and is still working his way back to full strength. While the backstop will need to prove he can throw with his usual velocity and distance in order to avoid a stint on the injured list to open the season, Dingler should be able to pick up at-bats at designated hitter during Grapefruit League games until he's cleared for defensive duties.

Dingler will be eased into spring training after undergoing arthroscopic right elbow surgery, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
It's unclear when exactly Dingler had the operation, but he had a similar surgery two years ago and does not expect to be sidelined for much of camp. Dingler -- who won a Gold Glove in 2025 -- should be fine for Opening Day, but if his recovery lags, Jake Rogers would step in as the Tigers' primary catcher.

Dingler went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, two strikeouts and a walk during Thursday's 6-3 win over the Guardians.
Dingler's solo shot off Joey Cantillo in the sixth inning put the Tigers in front 2-1 -- a lead the team would not give up for the rest of the game. The 27-year-old is now 1-for-10 at the plate through three games in the postseason, and Detroit's Game 3 victory will ensure he receives at least three more opportunities to start behind the plate against the Mariners.
