Josh Fields: Released from minor-league pact
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Rangers released Fields on Saturday.

Fields, who inked a minor-league deal with the organization in May, had been pitching for the Rangers' Triple-A affiliate in Nashville. Over 12 appearances with the club, the reliever gave up 11 earned runs on 19 hits and six walks across 17 frames. He'll likely have to settle for another minor-league contract as he heads back into free agency.

Rangers' Josh Fields: Inks minors deal with Rangers
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Fields signed a minor-league contract with the Rangers and will join Triple-A Nashville on Saturday.

Fields played a fairly significant role out of the Dodgers' bullpen last year, racking up eight holds and even a couple saves when Kenley Jansen was unavailable. The Dodgers then gave Fields a one-year, $2.65 million deal to avoid arbitration in the winter, but two months later, he was released outright. If he can get back on track with Nashville, Fields could get a look in a Rangers bullpen that has a collective 4.62 ERA.

Josh Fields: Released by Milwaukee
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Fields was released by the Brewers on Tuesday.

Fields has now been released by both the Dodgers and Brewers this season. He allowed eight runs (seven earned) in 7.2 innings for Triple-A San Antonio but had an ERA under 3.00 in each of the last two seasons with the Dodgers, so it's still possible that he's pitching in a big-league bullpen somewhere soon.

Brewers' Josh Fields: Latches on with Brewers
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Fields signed a minor-league contract with the Brewers on Tuesday.

Fields will join the Brewers in major-league camp after being designated for assignment and subsequently released by the Dodgers earlier in the month. He's expected to open the season in the minors, per Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, but seeing as the veteran reliever owns a 2.61 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 115:34 K:BB across 117.1 innings over the last three seasons, he should eventually factor into the bullpen picture for Milwaukee.

Josh Fields: Let go by Dodgers
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Fields was released by the Dodgers on Sunday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Fields agreed to a one-year, $2.65 million deal in January to avoid arbitration, but the Dodgers designated him for assignment on Thursday. The veteran right-hander apparently went unclaimed on waivers, so the team opted to grant his release rather than send him to the minors. Fields had a 2.61 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 115:34 K:BB across 117.1 innings with the Dodgers over the last three seasons.

Dodgers' Josh Fields: Cast off 40-man
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Fields has been designated for assignment.

The Dodgers claimed soft-tossing southpaw Donnie Hart off waivers, and Fields will be the roster casualty. He logged a 2.20 ERA in 41 innings last year, but his 4.61 xFIP suggests he was very fortunate.

Dodgers' Josh Fields: Evades arbitration
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Fields agreed to a one-year, $2.65 million deal with the Dodgers on Friday, avoiding arbitration.

Fields served as one of his team's most reliable arms out of the bullpen during the 2018 season, recording a 2.20 ERA and 0.95 WHIP with a 33:11 K:BB over 41 frames. He should return to a setup role heading into the 2019 campaign after avoiding an arbitration hearing.

Dodgers' Josh Fields: Logs full inning Monday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Fields gave up a hit over a scoreless inning in Monday's loss to the Reds.

Fields logged a full inning for the first time since returning from a shoulder injury Aug. 30. The club appears to be easing the reliever back into action. Kenta Maeda and Ryan Madson have taken over as the Dodgers' top right-handed setup men, so Fields will likely be limited to a middle-relief role down the stretch.

Dodgers' Josh Fields: Returns from DL
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Fields (shoulder) was activated from the 60-day disabled list ahead of Thursday's game against the Diamondbacks, Eric Stephen of reports.

Fields had been on the shelf with a shoulder issue for the last two months, although after completing a rehab stint, he's set to return to action. He figures to eventually settle in as a setup man, although the Dodgers will likely ease him back into big-league action. In corresponding moves, Rob Segedin was designated for assignment, and Yimi Garcia was optioned to High-A Rancho Cucamonga.

Dodgers' Josh Fields: Expects to return over weekend
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Fields (shoulder) expects to be activated from the 60-day disabled list over the weekend, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Fields has been sidelined since June 28 with a shoulder issue, but he's apparently feeling great after completing an eight-game rehab stint with Triple-A Oklahoma City and the Arizona League Dodgers (despite allowing five runs and three homers in seven innings). Once he's activated, Fields will likely be eased back into a setup role. He compiled a shiny 2.36 ERA across 34.1 innings before landing on the DL.

Dodgers' Josh Fields: Shifted to 60-day DL
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Fields was shifted to the 60-day disabled list Saturday, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.

This is simply procedural, as Fields, who landed on the disabled list at the end of June, wasn't expected to return until Sept. 1 anyway (after his 60-day window is up). The move frees up a 40-man roster spot for Julio Urias, who was reinstated from the 60-day disabled list and optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City earlier in the day.

Dodgers' Josh Fields: Won't return until September
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Fields (shoulder) won't return until Sept. 1, Ken Gurnick of reports.

Fields has been out since late June with shoulder inflammation. He's been rehabbing for over two weeks but will be out at least one more. He'll likely fill a setup role upon his return.

Dodgers' Josh Fields: Moves rehab to Triple-A
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Fields (shoulder) shifted his rehab assignment to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday and tossed a perfect inning in the affiliate's 6-4 win over Iowa.

Fields' appearance was the fourth of his minor-league assignment, with his previous three outings coming with the Dodgers' rookie-level Arizona League affiliate. Now that the 33-year-old is working in the higher minors, it appears he won't require much more time to recover from the right shoulder injury before slotting back into the Los Angeles bullpen. Fields is expected to occupy a key setup role for the big club after submitting a 2.36 ERA and 0.93 WHIP over 34.1 innings prior to being shut down with the injury.

Dodgers' Josh Fields: Starts rehab assignment
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Fields (shoulder) made a rehab appearance for the Dodgers' Arizona League affiliate Tuesday, striking out one over one scoreless inning while giving up two base hits.

Fields has been shut down since June 26 with right shoulder inflammation, so he'll likely require at least a few more appearances in the minors before the Dodgers bring him back from the 10-day disabled list. Prior to developing the injury, Fields had functioned as one of the top setup men for closer Kenley Jansen. He has recorded a 2.36 ERA, 0.93 WHIP, eight holds and two saves in 37 outings this season.

by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Fields' (shoulder) timetable to return from the disabled list is still unclear.

Fields landed on the disabled list with shoulder inflammation June 28, and the Dodgers have yet to announce a projected rehab stint or an expected return date. The 32-year-old posted a 2.36 ERA and 0.93 WHIP over 34.1 innings prior to landing on the DL. Pedro Baez continues to serve as the club's primary right-handed setup man in his stead.

Dodgers' Josh Fields: Lands on disabled list
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Dodgers placed Fields on the 10-day disabled list Thursday with right shoulder inflammation, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Fields last pitched Tuesday against the Cubs and has thrown only 13 pitches over the last nine days. The severity of the issue remains unclear at this point, and the 32-year-old will be eligible to come off the shelf July 7.

Dodgers' Josh Fields: Picks up four-out save
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Fields tossed 1.1 scoreless innings while walking one and striking out two en route to his second save of the season in Sunday's 7-2 win over Washington.

Fields entered the contest with the Dodgers up 5-2 in the eighth inning, and he stayed in to close out the game after the club tacked on two more in the top of the ninth. Closer Kenley Jansen was unavailable after notching two saves in Saturday's doubleheader, so manager Dave Roberts turned to his primary setup man for the second time this season. With Jansen seemingly over his early season struggles, Fields' future save chances will be limited to rare situations like Sunday's.

Dodgers' Josh Fields: Picks up save with Jansen resting
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Fields gave up a hit but worked a scoreless ninth for his first save Monday against the Marlins.

Kenley Jansen worked both games this weekend, leaving him unavailable for Monday's series opener. Fields has been excellent this season, with just one run allowed, and he has now worked six straight scoreless innings to lower his ERA to 0.82. Expect him to be first in line for save opportunities whenever Jansen needs rest.

Dodgers' Josh Fields: Picks up win in relief
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Fields notched his second win of the season after firing a scoreless inning Sunday. He allowed a hit and a walk while striking out two in a comeback victory over the Nationals.

Fields has gotten off to a strong start this year, posting a 0.90 ERA with a 14:3 K:BB ratio over 10 innings. The veteran reliever also owns a 1.30 FIP, indicating that his minuscule ERA may not be a mirage (4.22 FIP last season). Kenley Jansen bounced back with a strong outing Sunday, but the closer's early season struggles have been well-documented. Fields' hot start could give him value as a ratio-boosting reliever in deeper formats, but his main appeal is as a possible replacement for Jansen if he is unable to smooth out his velocity and performance issues on a consistent basis.

Dodgers' Josh Fields: Returns from paternity leave
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Fields returned from the paternity list Saturday.

Fields had been away from the team since Tuesday due to the birth of his child. He'll resume his setup role in front of Kenley Jansen.
