  • Red Sox's Tyler Uberstine: To 7-day IL with shoulder soreness

Uberstine was placed on the 7-day injured list with right shoulder soreness at Triple-A Worcester on Friday, Chris Henrique of BostonSportsJournal.com reports.

Uberstine made his major-league debut earlier this month, appearing in one game for the Red Sox back on April 5 against the Padres. He allowed one run on three hits and one walk with two strikeouts across 2.2 innings. Uberstine was sent back to Worcester the following day.

  • Red Sox's Willson Contreras: Back in lineup Friday

Contreras (back) is starting at first base and batting second Friday against the Tigers, Chris Henrique of BostonSportsJournal.com reports.

Contreras' back tightened up on him Tuesday, and he was out of the lineup Wednesday against the Twins ahead of Thursday's off day. Contreras has been one of baseball's best hitters over the last couple weeks, as he's slashing .378/.500/.676 with three home runs, 10 RBI and eight runs scored over the last 15 days.

  • Red Sox's Juan Valera: Exits early with elbow issue

Valera exited his start Thursday against High-A Bowling Green in the second inning with right elbow inflammation, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Valera tossed a scoreless first inning, walking a batter while striking out another, before he was forced to exit the game. The 19-year-old was recently ranked as the No. 100 prospect in baseball by Baseball America, and he could be set to miss some time moving forward.

  • Red Sox's Franklin Arias: Dominant start at Double-A

Arias is hitting .542 with two home runs, one steal, a 12.9 percent walk rate and a 6.5 percent strikeout rate in 31 plate appearances for Double-A Portland.

His first homer of the season April 14 was a majestic shot to center-right field -- an impressive feat for a righty-hitting 20-year-old who is the third-youngest hitter at Double-A, behind Jesus Made and Leo De Vries. His second homer of the season April 15 was hammered to the pull side and he also stole his first base in that game. Arias' hit tool has long been one of the more advanced in the minors, and he seems to be heading for a power breakout in the upper levels.

  • Red Sox's Trevor Story: Drives in five at Minnesota

Story went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, a home run and five RBI in Wednesday's 9-5 win over the Twins.

The veteran shortstop capped a five-run third inning with a three-run shot off Simeon Woods Richardson before adding a two-run double in the sixth. The long ball was Story's first in April and second of the season, and while he had a sluggish start to the campaign, he appears to have found his groove -- over the last nine games he's batting .314 (11-for-35) with a whopping 15 RBI.

  • Red Sox's Isiah Kiner-Falefa: Logs two hits in win

Kiner-Falefa started at third base and went 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in Wednesday's 9-5 win over the Twins.

Kiner-Falefa, who filled in for the resting Caleb Durbin, made a second consecutive start. His start Tuesday came at second base against a left-hander as part of a platoon role with Marcelo Mayer. Kiner-Falefa's playing time has been sporadic, and he's largely failed to take advantage of those opportunities with a .222/.300/.222 slash line in 20 plate appearances.

  • Red Sox's Connelly Early: Sharp in first win of 2026

Early (1-0) picked up the win Wednesday, allowing one run on two hits and two walks over six innings in a 9-5 victory over the Twins. He struck out five.

The young southpaw delivered his first quality start of the season along with his first win, and the only blemish on his line was a first-inning solo shot by Austin Martin. Early tossed 52 of his 85 pitches for strikes, and he has yet to give up more than two runs in an outing in 2026. He'll take a 2.29 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 20:10 K:BB through 19.2 innings into his next trip to the mound, which is scheduled to come at home early next week against the Yankees.

  • Red Sox's Andruw Monasterio: Slots in at first base

Monasterio started at first base and went 3-for-5 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 9-5 win over Minnesota.

Monasterio, who stepped in at first base Tuesday when Willson Contreras was removed due to a back issue, started there Wednesday. The three-hit day was the first multi-hit effort of the season for Monasterio, who entered the contest batting .143 (2-for-14) in limited playing time. The Red Sox are off Thursday, which gives Contreras downtime ahead of the four-game set with the Tigers begins Friday.

  • Red Sox's Carlos Narvaez: Out of Boston's lineup

Narvaez is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest in Minnesota.

Narvaez started at catcher in the first two games of the series, so he's earned a breather in Wednesday's finale. Connor Wong will be behind the dish and bat eighth for the Red Sox.

  • Red Sox's Caleb Durbin: Taking seat in series finale

Durbin is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Twins.

Durbin will receive a routine day off after compiling a poor .389 OPS in his first 16 games this season. Isiah Kiner-Falefa will handle third base and bat ninth for the Red Sox.

  • Red Sox's Wilyer Abreu: Getting first day off Wednesday

Abreu is out of the lineup for Wednesday's contest in Minnesota.

Abreu will receive his first breather of the season in a planned day off. Roman Anthony will occupy right field, Jarren Duran will play left field, and Masataka Yoshida will serve as the designated hitter as the Red Sox try to avoid the sweep.

  • Red Sox's Willson Contreras: Out of Wednesday's lineup

Contreras (back) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game in Minnesota.

Contreras exited Tuesday's 6-0 loss after his lower back tightened up on him. With a team off day looming Thursday before the Red Sox begin a homestand Friday, it's sensible to rest Contreras for the series finale Wednesday. Andruw Monasterio will handle first base and bat sixth for Boston. Per Ian Browne of MLB.com, manager Alex Cora believes Contreras has a good chance to be ready to play Friday versus the Tigers.

  • Red Sox's Jack Anderson: Impresses in MLB debut

Anderson allowed one run on one hit and one walk while striking out four over three innings in his MLB debut Tuesday against the Twins.

Called up from Triple-A Worcester earlier in the day after Garrett Crochet's short outing Monday taxed Boston's pitching staff, Anderson made the most of his first major-league opportunity. The 26-year-old came on after Sonny Gray's early exit and immediately struck out the side and carried that momentum through three strong innings, with the only blemish coming on a solo homer by Byron Buxton in the sixth. It was an encouraging debut for Anderson, who posted a 3.72 ERA with nine punchouts over 9.2 innings in his first two starts at Worcester.
