Nets forward Andrei Kirilenko could not practice Monday due to a tweaked back, the New York Daily News reports. It is becoming clear that Kirilenko is doubtful to play in Wednesday's season opener in Cleveland.

Kirilenko hopes to practice Tuesday, and coach Jason Kidd said he will assess him at that point before making a decision on his status for the opener.

"It's too early," Kidd said when asked about Kirilenko's availability Monday.

"I need to get some action in 5-on-5," Kirilenko said. "Tomorrow's going to be my first day, so we'll see how it goes. Right now, from this point, it's going to be day to day."
