In Game 3, Portland Trail Blazers guard C.J. McCollum accidently elbowed Mike Conley in the face. McCollum's elbow caught Conley in his left eye, fracturing bones around it. Conley left the game and had to undergo surgey to repair the fracture. The surgey was successful but caused some serious swelling in Conley's face.
During Game 5, TNT's Lewis Johnson checked in with Conley. There was still significant swelling in his face, but as Conley told Johnson, it was a lot better than two days earlier when he couldn't even open up his left eye.
In their brief chat, Conley informed Johson that he has two steel plates in his face now.
Yikes!
The good news is that Conley is recovering and could play in the second round, if the Grizzlies make it.
