  • Warriors' Jimmy Butler: Cleared to debut Saturday

Butler (recently traded) has been cleared to play against the Bulls on Saturday, Anthony Slater of The Athletic reports. Butler was traded by the Heat to the Warriors on Wednesday in exchange for Andrew Wiggins, Kyle Anderson, Dennis Schroeder and a protected 2025 first-round pick. Butler wasn't able to make his Warriors debut against the Lakers on Thursday, but he will suit up alongside Stephen Curry and Draymond Green on Saturday. In the 22 games prior to his first suspension from the Heat in early January, Butler averaged 17.6 points on 55.2 percent shooting, 5.5 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.2 steals over 30.8 minutes per game.

  • Warriors' Jimmy Butler: Trending toward debut Saturday

Butler is trending toward making his Warriors debut in Saturday's game against Chicago, Mike McGraw of the Chicago Daily Herald reports. The Warriors agreed in principle Wednesday to a deal that sends Butler to Goldne State, but since multiple players involved in the five-team trade still need to pass physicals, the deal has not yet been finalized. Before being suspended by the Heat for the third time in less than a month in late January for conduct detrimental to the team, Butler had averaged 17.0 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.1 steals in 30.6 minutes per game over 25 appearances. Butler has reportedly kept himself in playing shape amid his latest suspension, so he could be ready to handle something close to a full workload if he's able to make his Warriors debut Saturday.

  • Warriors' Jimmy Butler: Won't debut Thursday

Butler (recently traded) won't play in Thursday's game versus the Lakers, Anthony Slater of The Athletic reports. Though the Warriors agreed Wednesday to a multi-team deal that will send Butler to Golden State, the veteran forward will have to wait to make his team debut while the trade is still in the process of being finalized. Butler hadn't played since Jan. 21 after being suspended by the Heat prior to being traded, but the 35-year-old has reportedly kept himself in shape and healthy during his layoff from game action, according to NBA reporter Chris Haynes. Assuming the Warriors are satisfied with his conditioning, Butler could be thrust into a big-minute role right away if the trade is made official prior to the team's next game Saturday versus the Bulls.

  • Warriors' Jimmy Butler: Shipped to Golden State

The Warriors acquired Butler from the Heat on Wednesday in exchange for forwards Andrew Wiggins and Kyle Anderson, guard Dennis Schroder and a protected 2025 first-round pick, Shams Charania of ESPN reports. Butler had been suspended indefinitely by Miami since Jan. 27 for conduct detrimental to the team but will get a chance at a fresh start with the Warriors. The veteran forward likely won't be available for Golden State's next two games Wednesday in Utah and Thursday in Los Angeles while all players involved in the trade need to pass physicals before the deal is official, but once active, expect Butler to fill Wiggins' vacated spot in the starting lineup. While Stephen Curry will likely still rank as the Warriors' primary offensive option, Butler should come close to matching or exceeding the 19.9 percent usage rate he held down with Miami this season, given Golden State's lack of other ball-dominant players. In order to facilitate the trade, Charania relays that Butler has declined his 2025-26 player option and has agreed to a two-year, $121 million extension with the Warriors.

  • Heat's Jimmy Butler: Suspended at least five games

The Heat announced Monday that Butler has been suspended indefinitely without pay for a period of no fewer than five games due to "a continued pattern of disregard of team rules, engaging in conduct detrimental to the team and intentionally withholding services." Butler has now been suspended on three occasions by the team this month, with his latest ban coming after he walked out of the team's morning shootaround after being informed that he would come off the bench for Monday's game against the Magic, per Shams Charania of ESPN. As a result of Butler's latest transgression, the Heat will hold him out through the Feb. 6 trade deadline, presumably with the hope of finding a suitor for the star forward before then. Haywood Highsmith is slated to start at small forward Monday, and he should be a beneficiary of additional minutes along with reserves Jaime Jaquez (illness), Duncan Robinson, Terry Rozier and Nikola Jovic for the duration of Butler's suspension.

  • Heat's Jimmy Butler: Another suspension on tap

The Heat are expected to suspend Butler indefinitely prior to Monday's game against the Magic, Shams Charania of ESPN reports. After being suspended for the second time this month last week after missing a team flight, Butler was on track to return to action Monday against the Magic following a two-game absence. However, he reportedly walked out of the Heat's morning shootaround after learning that he wouldn't be in the starting lineup Monday, which will prompt Miami to suspend him for a minimum of five games, according to Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel. The suspension will last through the Feb. 6 trade deadline, and the Heat will presumably look to move the disgruntled six-time All-Star before then. Haywood Highsmith will start at small forward in place of Butler on Monday.

  • Heat's Jimmy Butler: Off injury report for Monday

Butler is not listed on the Heat's injury report for Monday's game against Orlando. Butler will be available to suit up Monday after serving a two-game suspension, which stems from him missing the team's flight to Milwaukee this past Wednesday. Though Butler has been cleared to rejoin the team, Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald relays that the Heat haven't confirmed that the star forward will play Monday. Butler has missed nine of Miami's 14 games in January due to suspension, as he was previously issued a seven-game ban Jan. 3 due to multiple instances of conduct detrimental to the team.

  • Heat's Jimmy Butler: Expected to be available Monday

Butler is expected to be available for Monday's game against the Magic following a two-game suspension, Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald reports. Butler is expected to return from a suspension that the Heat announced was due to a "continued pattern of disregard of team rules, insubordinate conduct and conduct detrimental to the team." There is no confirmation that the superstar will actually play, though Chiang relayed that Butler is expected to continue making himself available. The six-time All-Star has been suspended for nine of Miami's 14 outings in January, and he's averaged 11.4 points, 4.6 assists and 3.2 rebounds across 28.0 minutes per contest in the five contests he has suited up for.

  • Heat's Jimmy Butler: Two-game ban confirmed

The Heat confirmed Wednesday that Butler has been suspended for games Thursday in Milwaukee and Saturday in Brooklyn due to a "continued pattern of disregard of team rules, insubordinate conduct and conduct detrimental to the team." Butler's latest suspension comes after he missed the Heat's flight to Milwaukee on Wednesday. The six-time All-Star was previously suspended for seven games earlier this month, which stemmed from multiple instances of conduct detrimental to the team. Butler has made it no secret that he desires to be traded, and while the Heat have been listening to offers, it's unclear if the organization has made much headway in finding the 35-year-old forward a new home in advance of the Feb. 6 trade deadline. Butler will be eligible to resume playing for the Heat in Monday's game against the Magic, but given the ongoing friction between player and team, it's unclear if he'll immediately be back in action next week.

  • Heat's Jimmy Butler: Facing two-game ban

The Heat are expected to suspend Butler for their next two games after he missed a team flight Wednesday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports. Miami had previously suspended Butler for seven games earlier this month due to multiple instances of conduct detrimental to the team, and he appeared in just three games before drawing another team-imposed suspension. He'll miss games Thursday against the Bucks and Saturday against the Nets, and though Butler will be eligible to play next week when the team returns to Miami, it's unclear if he'll immediately resume playing. Duncan Robinson, Terry Rozier, Nikola Jovic and Jaime Jaquez could all be more involved for the Heat for at least the next two games while Butler is out.

  • Heat's Jimmy Butler: Returns with 18 points

Butler (suspension) finished Friday's 133-113 loss to the Nuggets with 18 points (7-15 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 4-4 FT), three rebounds and two assists across 33 minutes. Seeing his first action since Jan. 2 following the completion of his team-imposed seven-game suspension, Butler looked a little rusty but still provided a decent showcase for prospective trade partners. The 35-year-old has made it apparent that he prefers to be moved out of Miami, but it's unclear if the organization has any intention of acquiescing to his demands prior to the Feb. 6 trade deadline. Until then, Butler looks like he'll but any discord with the franchise aside and continue playing his normal minutes in the starting five.

  • Heat's Jimmy Butler: Set to return against Denver

Butler will return to the lineup Friday against the Nuggets, NBA reporter Chris Haynes reports. After serving a seven-game suspension imposed by the team, Butler will return to the basketball floor against Denver. The 35-year-old veteran has made it abundantly clear that he wants to be traded, but Miami is seemingly finding it difficult to move him, resulting in this awkward situation. There's no telling how much time Butler will be on the floor Friday.

  • Heat's Jimmy Butler: Not on injury report

Butler is not on the injury report after completing his seven-game suspension and will be available to return Friday against the Nuggets, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports. Butler has stated that he wants to be traded, but it seems the star forward is not planning to sit until the Feb. 6 trade deadline. Instead, it seems Butler will play and be as available as possible for the Heat, perhaps aiming to show other teams he still has plenty to bring to the table. It's unclear how much usage rate he'll have, so his fantasy upside is a bit uncertain given his recent seven-game absence.

  • Heat's Jimmy Butler: Plans to play after suspension

Butler (suspension) plans to play for the Heat following his suspension, and Miami isn't close to trading the superstar forward, per NBA reporter Chris Haynes. ESPN's Shams Charania reported Tuesday morning that Butler, who's currently serving a seven-game suspension for multiple instances of conduct detrimental to the team, had a face-to-face meeting with team president Pat Riley last week and reiterated that he wants to be traded and will not sign a new deal in Miami. The Heat are currently in seventh place in the Eastern Conference with a 20-18 record and have had Butler's services for only 22 games. And when he's been available, the veteran hasn't been playing his usual minutes, averaging 30.8 per game -- his lowest mark since the 2012-13 campaign. Butler has one more game remaining -- Wednesday against the Lakers -- before he's eligible to suit up again, and it sounds like he'll be back in the rotation Friday against Denver. However, his effort level and usage moving forward is anyone's guess. The Heat are attempting to cooperate with Butler's trade demand, but there hasn't been a sense of urgency ahead of the Feb. 6 deadline. Butler has been linked to the Suns, Warriors, Mavericks and Rockets.

  • Heat's Jimmy Butler: Receives seven-game suspension

The Heat announced in a statement Friday that they have suspended Butler for the next seven games for multiple instances of conduct detrimental to the team. "Through his actions and statements, he has shown he no longer wants to be part of this team," the statement reads. "Jimmy Butler and his representative have indicated that they wish to be traded, therefore, we will listen to offers." The suspension comes on the heels of Butler implying in postgame comments following Thursday's 128-115 loss to the Pacers that Nuggets that he didn't believe he could find joy in playing if he were to stick around with Miami. Butler recently put in a request to be traded, and though Heat president Pat Riley said in a statement issued Dec. 26 that the star forward wouldn't be moved, the team is now open to trade discussions. Butler will be eligible to rejoin the Heat for their Jan. 17 game against the Nuggets, but there's no guarantee he'll still be a member of the roster once his suspension is over.

  • Heat's Jimmy Butler: Back-to-back poor performances

Butler logged nine points (3-6 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds, four assists and two steals over 27 minutes during Thursday's 128-115 loss to the Pacers. Butler continues to seem checked out regarding his effort on the floor for the Heat. As Butler's fate in Miami remains uncertain, the veteran hasn't made much of an impact, with back-to-back performances in which he scored only nine points, attempting a total of 11 shots in those games.

  • Heat's Jimmy Butler: Muted performance in return

Butler (illness) closed Wednesday's 119-108 win over New Orleans with nine points (3-5 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds and two assists in 25 minutes. Butler returned from a five-game absence but struggled to find his rhythm while the Heat eased him back in with a lighter minutes count. The veteran forward has endured a topsy-turvy campaign, as he has delivered some vintage performances while also missing multiple games and, at times, looking lethargic on the court. Despite consistent trade rumors, Butler should continue to play a major role for the Heat, assuming he can remain relatively injury-free moving forward.

  • Heat's Jimmy Butler: Will return Wednesday

Butler (illness) will return to the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pelicans, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports. Butler missed the past five games for Miami due to a stomach bug, but he was back at practice Tuesday. With Butler back in the mix, Jaime Jaquez will likely shift to the bench and Tyler Herro could see his usage rate take a hit.

  • Heat's Jimmy Butler: Out for next two games

Butler (conditioning) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Hawks and Sunday's contest against the Rockets, Tim Reynolds of Associated Press reports. Barry reported earlier Friday that Butler was expected to join the Heat on their two-game road trip. However, the All-NBA forward will instead remain in Miami as he works on his conditioning after missing the Heat's last three games due to a stomach bug, and he's now expected to return on New Year's Day against the Pelicans. Jaime Jaquez will likely remain in Miami's starting lineup for the next two games due to Butler's absence.

  • Heat's Jimmy Butler: Expected back over weekend

Butler (conditioning) is expected to join the Heat for its two-game road trip and could return to action Saturday in Atlanta, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports. Butler appeared to tweak his ankle in a Dec. 20 loss to the Thunder, but the Heat ended up ruling him out for the rest of the game with a stomach illness. He's proceeded to sit out each of Miami's last three games, but the fact that the Heat listed his absence for Thursday's 89-88 win over the Magic due to "return to competition reconditioning" suggests he's moved past the illness at this point. In the midst of Butler's absence, Shams Charania of ESPN reported Wednesday that the six-time All-Star was seeking a trade out of Miami ahead of the Feb. 6 deadline, but team president Pat Riley said in a statement Thursday that the Heat have no intentions of moving Butler. The 35-year-old is thus expected to slot back into the starting five and play his usual minutes for Miami once he completes his reconditioning program.
