The Bucks signed Butler to an Exhibit 10 deal Thursday, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports. Butler was a G League standout during the 2024-25 season. Milwaukee's roster is already full, so Butler is expected to be waived so he can join the Wisconsin Herd in the G League.

  • Wizards' John Butler: Inks pact with Washington

The Wizards signed Butler to an Exhibit 10 contract Sunday. Butler will join the club on a non-guaranteed deal, though he will likely end up with the club's G League affiliate -- the Capital City Go-Go -- for a second consecutive year. The 21-year-old hasn't played in an NBA game since the 2022-23 season with Portland, during which he averaged 2.4 points while shooting 32.1 percent from the field across 11.6 minutes per game in 19 regular-season appearances. Butler spent last season with the Go-Go, averaging 6.7 points and 3.4 rebounds across 19.5 minutes per game in 33 regular-season outings.

  • Trail Blazers' John Butler: Remains in Portland on two-way deal

Butler agreed to a one-year, two-way contract with Portland on Wednesday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports. Butler appeared in 19 games for the Trail Blazers last season as a two-way player and averaged 2.4 points across 11.6 minutes. However, with the departure of Drew Eubanks, Butler could be in line for a larger role at the center position behind Jusuf Nurkic, especially in light of the fact that Portland is transitioning to a youth movement across the board.

Butler (ankle) is questionable Tuesday at Memphis. • Trail Blazers' John Butler: Plays season-high 26 minutes

Butler had three points (1-6 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three rebounds, one assist, one block and two steals over 26 minutes during Wednesday's 120-80 loss to the Kings. With a majority of Portland's regular sidelined, Butler cracked the rotation for a second straight game and finished with a season-high 26 minutes. The undrafted rookie out of Florida State figures to continue getting opportunities down the stretch, but he's unlikely to produce consistently enough to crack fantasy relevancy.

Butler (finger) is available for Wednesday's game versus the Hornets.
