Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams told WBTV on Monday that he has been released.
"I don't feel bitter at all," Williams said. "[Stewart] had the hot hand at the end of the season. He's a great running back, obviously, uh, I don't feel bitter at all. It's a business."
Williams has spent his entire nine-year career with the Panthers. He dealt with a variety of injuries in 2014, including a thigh, ankle and broken hand.
As a result of the release, the Panthers have about $6.6 million in dead cap money, according to the NFL Network.
