Devon Johnson: Waived by Panthers on Tuesday
Johnson (back) was waived by the Panthers on Tuesday, Max Henson of the Panthers' official site reports.
Johnson signed with the Panthers in August 2016 but was waived before the regular season began because of an injury. He will likely look to be invited to another team's training camp and aim for a shot on an NFL roster.

Devon Johnson: Waived with injury designation
Johnson was placed on the Panthers waived/injured list Thursday, The Washington Post reports.
Johnson, un undrafted rookie who played tight end at Marshall, profiles more as a fullback than running back in the NFL. However, the Panthers were already set at that position with incumbent starting FB Mike Tolbert. However, Johnson's injury remains undisclosed, but his release cleared room for the addition of OT Willie Smith.
