Sabres' Dalton Smith: Shifts to minors
The Sabres reassigned Smith to AHL Rochester on Monday, Joe Yerdon of The Athletic reports.
Smith cleared waivers last week but stuck with the big club, but now he'll head back to minors with Michael Frolik coming to Buffalo via trade from Calgary. The 27-year-old enforcer made his NHL debut Dec. 31, and he recorded 1:26 of ice time and a plus-1 rating. He also dropped the gloves, but the bout was broken up early, so he was only assessed a two-minute minor.

Sabres' Dalton Smith: Still with team
Despite being waived Thursday, Smith is still with the Sabres ahead of Saturday's matchup with Florida, Paul Hamilton of WGR Sports Radio 550 reports.
Smith participated in warmups prior to Saturday's contest, but he won't be in the lineup against the Panthers. The 27-year-old winger will likely return to the minors as soon as Michael Frolik is ready to make his Sabres debut.

Sabres' Dalton Smith: Waived by Buffalo
The Sabres placed Smith on waivers Thursday, Mike Harrington of The Buffalo News reports.
Smith only logged 1:26 of ice time in his lone appearance with the big club Tuesday against Tampa Bay, so this move doesn't come as a surprise. Assuming he goes unclaimed, the 27-year-old winger will likely remain in the minors for the rest of the campaign.

Sabres' Dalton Smith: Inks two-way pact
Smith signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Sabres on Monday.
Smith has spent the season with AHL Rochester -- the Sabres' minor-league affiliate -- so the Sabres are now able to recall the 27-year-old to the big club at any point. The winger has produced four points and 27 PIM over 21 AHL games this year. According to Mike Harrington of The Buffalo News, the new deal means Smith is part of the Sabres' 23-man roster, so he'll either be assigned to Rochester soon or strick with the big club for Tuesday's game against the Lightning.
