Sharks' Tom Pyatt: Dealt to San Jose
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Canucks traded Pyatt and a 2019 sixth-round pick to the Sharks for Francis Perron and a 2019 seventh-round pick Saturday.

Pyatt has plenty of history at the top level, but he suited up for just 37 games last season for the Senators. After being dealt to the Canucks earlier this offseason, Pyatt is on the move again. Given the talent level on the Sharks' roster, the veteran will likely have his work cut out for him to earn a spot on the NHL roster.

Canucks' Tom Pyatt: Acquired via trade
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Pyatt was brought in to Vancouver from Ottawa on Wednesday along with Mike McKenna and a 2019 sixth-round pick in exchange for Anders Nilsson and Darren Archibald.

Since Pyatt passed through waivers, Vancouver can assign him to AHL Utica, though he could get a look on the 23-man roster with Brandon Sutter (shoulder) still working his way back from injury. The 31-year-old Pyatt registered a paltry two helpers in 37 outings for the Senators this season, which led to him demotion and, ultimately, Ottawa's willingness to part ways with him.

Senators' Tom Pyatt: Cut loose by Ottawa
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Pyatt was waived by the Senators on Tuesday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

Pyatt was a liability for the parent club, as evidenced by his stacking just two points (assists) against a minus-16 rating through 37 games. Still, the veteran potentially could be a fit for a different team needing help on the penalty kill.

Senators' Tom Pyatt: Scratched Saturday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Pyatt served as a healthy scratch against the Capitals on Saturday.

It was the second time in the last five games that Pyatt has been relegated to a spot in the press box. Even when the Thunder Bay native is in the lineup, he is averaging a mere 10:02 of ice time in his previous 10 contests. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the 31-year-old is bogged down in a nine-game pointless streak and is still looking for his first goal of the year.

Senators' Tom Pyatt: Held pointless in lopsided loss
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Pyatt failed to register a point in Monday's 6-3 loss to the Bruins.

The rugged winger has yet to tally a point in 2018-19 and remains mostly irrelevant fantasy-wise. Pyatt's career high for points in a season is 23, dating back to 2016-17. The Thunder Bay, Ontario native has scored double-digit goals only once in his career, so there's no need to consider Pyatt for fantasy deployment.

Senators' Tom Pyatt: Fires most SOG of career
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Pyatt's 2017-18 campaign featured the most shots on goal of his career.

Despite firing 103 shots on goal, Pyatt converted just seven times (6.8 percent). Pyatt did add 15 helpers, though, to make complete his second straight 20-point season.

Senators' Tom Pyatt: Provides rare offensive boost
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Pyatt scored a goal and added an assist during Tuesday's 7-4 win over Tampa Bay.

This was the first goal in 23 games for Pyatt, and he had just two assists during that span. He entered Tuesday's contest averaging 2:04 of shorthanded ice time per game and starting 60.8 percent of his five-on-five shifts in the defensive zone, so Pyatt offers very limited fantasy upside.

Senators' Tom Pyatt: Returns to practice
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Pyatt (illness) was back at practice Wednesday, TSN 1200 Ottawa reports.

Pyatt was forced to sit out Tuesday's clash with Dallas due to the flu, but appears ready to go against the Sabres on Thursday. The Thunder Bay native is currently bogged down in a 20-game goal drought, during which he has garnered a lone helper. Even though the natural center is currently sitting at 17 points, his lack of offensive production could see him fail to reach the 20-point threshold.

Senators' Tom Pyatt: Dealing with illness
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Pyatt was held out of Monday's game against Dallas with flu-like symptoms, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.

Although it originally looked like a simple rest day for Pyatt, he'll take a night off to recover, and Max McCormick drew into the lineup in his absence. Pyatt has been particularly cold since the start of February, only notching one assist in 16 games, so perhaps the break will help him bust out of the slump. If the 31-year-old still isn't ready to go for Thursday's tilt against Buffalo, McCormick should continue to fill in on the fourth line.

Senators' Tom Pyatt: Lighting lamp recently
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Pyatt has scored two goals in his last six games, after only potting four in his first 41 matches.

The tallies were Pyatt's first since Nov. 24, effectively ending a 20 game goalless drought, and he now sits with 16 points (six goals, 10 assists) through 47 games. After getting off to a strong start to 2017-18 with nine points in his first 15 tilts, perhaps this will help spark the 30-year-old after the All-Star break, as he needs just seven more points to set a new career high.

Senators' Tom Pyatt: Breaks eight-game point drought
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Pyatt's assist Wednesday marked the first time he'd scored a point since Nov. 24.

Pyatt might have left his scoring touch in Sweden, as he's only posted three points since Ottawa returned home from Europe on Nov. 11. He's still on pace for a career high in points, but that's because his career high is a mere 23 points. Pyatt can be useful if he gets a streak going, but at the present time he should only be an option in the deepest of leagues.

Senators' Tom Pyatt: Picks up assist in win
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Pyatt registered an assist on a third-period goal in Friday's 4-3 overtime win over Colorado in Sweden.

That's the fourth-straight game and fifth game in six where Pyatt has scored at least one point. Pyatt has never been a big scorer, so don't overreact to his streak, but he's worth a flier if you're in a tight spot.

Senators' Tom Pyatt: Clean bill of health for camp
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Pyatt (ankle) is listed on the Senators' training camp roster in preparation for the 2017-18 season.

Pyatt notched a career-high 23 points and played in all 82 games last regular season, though he was said to be limited by an ankle injury during the playoffs. Look for the 30-year-old to reprise his role as a penalty-killing specialist in the bottom six now that he's healthy.

Senators' Tom Pyatt: Signs two-year extension with Senators
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Pyatt (ankle) signed a two-year contract extension with the Senators on Monday worth an average of $1.1 million per season, Bob McKenzie of TSN reports.

Pyatt is coming off his first campaign with the Senators, where he played a full 82 games, posting 23 points (nine goals), 46 hits and 89 blocked shots. While he did miss a handful of postseason games due to multiple injuries, the Senators clearly don't see them as long-term issues and he should be good to go by the time training camp opens. Pyatt should continue to operate as a depth option, which may limit his overall upside.

Senators' Tom Pyatt: Fought through ankle malady
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Pyatt was dealing with an ankle injury during the playoffs, Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia reports.

Pyatt missed five postseason outings with an upper-body ailment, so it is uncertain when -- or how long -- this ankle malady was affecting him. The 30-year-old played in all 82 regular-season contests this year while setting career highs in assists (14) and points (23). At this point, it is unclear what the future holds for the Thunder Bay native as he will be an unrestricted free agent come July 1.

Senators' Tom Pyatt: Scores second goal of playoffs
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Pyatt scored a third-period goal and registered two shots on net over 12:58 of ice time during Friday's Game 4 loss to Pittsburgh.

With just two goals and an average of 11:54 of ice time through 11 postseason games, Pyatt isn't a reliable offensive contributor. He's playing a depth role and not receiving power-play time, so counting on him in fantasy settings is ill-advised.

Senators' Tom Pyatt: Returns to lineup Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Pyatt will reenter the lineup for Thursday's Game 4 against the Rangers, Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia reports.

This will be Pyatt's first time playing since suffering an upper-body injury during Game 4 of the Sens' first-round series back on April 19. In the three games Pyatt has played during this postseason, he could be described as "invisible," with no points and just one shot on goal. Head coach Guy Boucher would not announce who Pyatt will replace, but all indications from morning skate point to Tommy Wingels being the odd man out.

Senators' Tom Pyatt: Still warming bench
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Pyatt is once again projected to be a healthy scratch as the Senators take on the Rangers for Game 3 on Tuesday, NHL.com reports.

It appears that the Senators are living by the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality. Pyatt's been out of the lineup in the past four contests dating back to the Boston series, but he had dealt with an upper-body ailment before coach Guy Boucher decided to rest him for Games 1 and 2 of this semifinal round. A continuation of that trend is a huge blow for fantasy owners depending on Pyatt in playoff pools, but his ownership levels were probably low in the first place since he's mainly a penalty-killing specialist.

Senators' Tom Pyatt: Healthy but may not crack lineup
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Per coach Guy Boucher, Pyatt (upper body) is ready to go, but Ottawa may keep the same lineup for Saturday's contest against the Rangers, Amalie Benjamin of NHL.com reports.

Boucher was clearly satisfied with the lineup that managed a 2-1 victory in Game 1 of the second-round series and it's looking as though Pyatt could be a healthy scratch for Game 2 as a result. It is worth noting that New York's only goal in Thursday's contest came on the power play, so if Ottawa continues to allow goals while killing penalties, the Thunder Bay native could find himself back in action soon.

Senators' Tom Pyatt: Won't suit up for Game 1
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Pyatt (upper body) isn't on the ice for pregame warmups, indicating he won't be in the lineup for Thursday's Game 1 against the Rangers, Dean Brown of TSN 1200 reports.

Pyatt will miss a third consecutive game Thursday due to injuries to both his upper and lower body, but he was considered a game-time decision heading into Game 1, indicating he may be ready to return for Saturday's Game 2. The veteran forward isn't known for his offensive contributions, having only tallied 23 points (nine goals, 14 assists) in 82 games this season, but the Senators will miss his contributions as a key component of their penalty-killing unit. Tommy Wingels will continue to draw into the lineup while Pyatt remains sidelined.
