04/27/16DBJalen CollinsSuspensionSUSPENDCollins has been suspended for the first four games of the upcoming season for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances.

Collins is still eligible to partake in all offseason and preseason activities, but will have to miss the first quarter of the regular season. A second round selection last year, Collins was hoping to carve out a larger role in the Falcons' secondary this term, and although he very well may still, his absence will open opportunities for his teammates to begin the campaign.

04/27/16WRDevin HesterToeQUESTIONABLEHester (toe) still hasn't been cleared to run yet, ESPN.com reports.

Hester underwent surgery on his right big toe in January, a procedure that coincided with a four-to-six month recovery timetable. Although he's approaching the four-month mark, Hester was been limited to jogging and ladder drills in offseason workouts thus far. At 33 years old, Hester is being cautious with his rehab, but also knows that if he's unable to return kicks as the season grows closer, his $3 million salary cap figure would make him a candidate to be cut, particularly with the Falcons drafting receiver/returner Devin Fuller over the weekend.

04/27/16RBJamaal CharlesKneeQUESTIONABLECharles (knee) acknowledged that he probably won't participate in the Chiefs' OTAs, but is optimistic that he'll be back in time for training camp, Terez A. Paylor of the Kansas City Star reports.

Moreover, Charles relayed that at this time, he's at the stage of his rehab where he's running. The 29-year-old Charles suffered a season-ending ACL injury last October, but he appears on track to be ready to go in advance of Week 1, though if he were to experience any setbacks, fellow running backs Charcandrick West and Spencer Ware (who filled in for Charles last season) were both inked to contract extensions this offseason.

04/27/16DBPhillip GainesKneePROBABLEChiefs CB Phillip Gaines suffered a sprained knee Monday, Terez A. Paylor of The Kansas City Star reports.
04/27/16LBJustin HoustonKneeQUESTIONABLEHouston (knee) will play in the 2016-17 season according to GM John Dorsey, Terez A. Paylor of The Kansas City Star reports.

Houston went through ACL surgery back in February and was given a recovery timetable ranging from 6-12 months. The linebacker did not tear his ACL, but instead it was revealed that his ACL was not function properly. The 27-year-old missed the final five games of the regular season and saw limited action during the playoffs. Dorsey did not confirm a timetable for Houston's return or if he would be ready in time for the regular-season opener, but more information will arise as the Chiefs begin training camp this summer.

04/27/16TEJames O'ShaughnessyFootPROBABLEO'Shaughnessy (foot) has been placed on season-ending injured reserve.

O'Shaughnessy, a fifth-round rookie, had six catches for 87 yards in seven games. Now that he's done for the season, Demetrius Harris will serve as the No. 2 tight end behind Travis Kelce.

04/27/16WRDe'Anthony ThomasConcussionPROBABLEThomas said he is still trying to recover from a concussion, the Kansas City Star reports.

The Chiefs placed Thomas on the non-football illness list before Week 17, with head coach Andy Reid saying that the slot receiver's absence was not related to his concussion. Thomas apparently disagrees, hinting at significant discord between the player and organization. He still has two years remaining on his rookie contract, but it's no longer clear that Thomas will be back with the Chiefs in 2016.
