Rockies pitcher prospects have a particularly brutal track record, but last year, Colorado debuted its most hyped one yet, Jon Gray, whose fastball brushes the upper 90s. The Rockies kept the reins on him, limiting him to about 80 pitches every time out, and for the little they did turn him loose, he did ... yeah, about as poorly as expected. If we counted only the four road starts, where he had a 2.70 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 11.3 strikeouts per nine innings, we'd be salivating over his potential right about now, but it's those awful home starts that have brought down pitchers like him in the past, instilling bad habits that ultimately pass on to the road starts as well. Excluding him from sleeper lists would be selling his potential short, but the long odds make him easy to pass up in mixed leagues.
