Brewers' Alex Claudio: Designated for assignment

Claudio was designated for assignment by the Brewers on Saturday.

The veteran southpaw was the 40-man roster casualty with the Brewers bringing up Andruw Monasterio to replace Willy Adames (concussion) in the infield. Claudio has spent nearly all of the season to date with Triple-A Nashville, pitching to a 5.27 ERA, although the underlying numbers are better. He figures to remain with Nashville if he passes through waivers unclaimed.
