Freeman was called up from Triple-A Iowa on Friday, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports.
Freeman is back in the majors for the first time since June after spending the past month with Triple-A Iowa, following a DFA from the Dodgers in late July. Since joining the Cubs' organization, the 30-year-old has slashed .273/.345/.390 with a pair of home runs and six RBI in 23 games for Iowa. Moving forward, he figures to serve as middle-infield depth for the big-league club.
