Jahmai Jones: Clears release waivers

Jones (elbow) cleared unconditional release waivers and became a free agent Saturday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Jones underwent Tommy John surgery last week and will now hit free agency after being released by Baltimore. Since the 24-year-old was designated for assignment while hurt, the Orioles were forced to place him on release waivers after he went unclaimed on waivers. However, Jones will have the option to re-sign with the Orioles now that he's officially a free agent.
