Nationals' Adrian Sanchez: Designated for assignment

Sanchez was designated for assignment by the Nationals on Monday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Sanchez saw sporadic playing time during his stint with the major-league club, and he'll be cast off the 40-man roster after Jordy Mercer (calf) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Monday. The 31-year-old appeared in 16 games with the Nationals this year and hit .257 with two doubles, five runs and an RBI.
