Padres' Jake Esch: Scooped up by Padres

Esch was claimed off waivers by the Padres on Friday.

The right-hander had a brief cup of coffee with the Marlins last season, but he didn't find much success during that stint (or during his time in the minors, for that matter). That being said, the Padres rotation is a disaster, so if Esch can improve his performance against minor leaguers this season, he could find his way up to San Diego sometime over the summer.
