The Rockies have selected Nelson with the 138th overall pick of the 2025 First-Year Player Draft.

Nelson batted .163 during his first season with Wake Forest in 2024 while working as a two-way player, but he batted .318 with one homer and two steals in 27 games this spring. It's worth noting that improved line came in just 91 plate appearances, and he only appeared as an outfielder in 2025.
