The Tigers recalled Castro from Triple-A Toledo on Sunday.
Castro will provide the Tigers with some reinforcement in the infield following Javier Baez's (thumb) placement on the injured list Saturday. While Baez is out, the switch-hitting Castro could fill the smaller side of a platoon at shortstop with the lefty-hitting Harold Castro.
