Matt Waldron RP | WAS
Nationals' Matt Waldron: Placed on injured list
The Nationals placed Waldron on the 15-day injured list Tuesday, retroactive to Saturday, with chest inflammation.
Waldron has pitched 5.2 shutout innings since joining the Nationals in late August, but the team will now be without his services until at least Sept. 20 as he manages his chest injury. Zak Kent will come up from Triple-A Rochester to replenish Washington's reliever depth.

Gerardo Carrillo RP | ARI
Diamondbacks' Gerardo Carrillo: Returns to Triple-A
The Diamondbacks optioned Carrillo to Triple-A Reno on Tuesday.
Carrillo surrendered four runs (three earned) over one-third of an inning Tuesday in Kansas City and will now head back to the minors. The right-hander has a 4.15 ERA, 1.73 WHIP and 21:16 K:BB over 17.1 innings (12 appearances) with the Diamondbacks this year.

Kade Strowd RP | ARI
Diamondbacks' Kade Strowd: Back in majors
The Diamondbacks recalled Strowd from Triple-A Reno on Tuesday.
The right-hander is up for another stint with the Diamondbacks after spending the past month at Triple-A. Strowd has made just one appearance in the majors this season but was a solid bullpen piece for Baltimore last year with a 1.71 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 24:13 K:BB across 26.1 innings.

Devin Williams RP | NYM
Mets' Devin Williams: Resuming mound work
Williams (shoulder) will throw a bullpen session Tuesday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.
It will be Williams' first time throwing off the mound since he was diagnosed with a right shoulder strain nearly a month ago. The reliever remains optimistic about returning to pitch before the end of the regular season. Kodai Senga has pitched well since taking over the Mets' closer role, so even if Williams is activated later this month he might not pitch in the ninth inning.

Hunter Bigge RP | ATH
Rays' Hunter Bigge: Designated for assignment
The Rays designated Bigge for assignment Tuesday.
The transaction frees a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of Nick Madrigal. Bigge has looked like a high-leverage reliever at times but has struggled in 2026, posting a 6.98 ERA and 14:14 K:BB over 19.1 innings with the Rays and a 6.14 ERA and 37:20 K:BB over 29.1 frames with Triple-A Durham. The 28-year-old is under team control for several more years and could drawn interest via waivers.

Fernando Cruz RP | NYY
Yankees' Fernando Cruz: Expects to resume throwing this week
Cruz (elbow) expects to resume a throwing program by the end of this week, Meredith Marakovits of YES Network reports.
Cruz was diagnosed with a partial tear in his right elbow UCL in late August. It's an injury that sometimes requires surgery and often results in an extended absence, but Cruz is motivated to make it back before the regular season concludes. Being able to accomplish that feat, however, is not a given.

Trevor Gott RP | WAS
Padres' Trevor Gott: Nets minors deal from Padres
The Padres signed Gott to a minor-league contract Tuesday.
Gott spent the first half of the season at Triple-A Rochester in the Nationals organization, holding a 3.55 ERA and 27:15 K:BB over 33 innings before being released in July. He'll now report to Triple-A El Paso, where he will give the Padres some experienced bullpen depth. Gott has not pitched at the major-league level since 2023.

Ryan Helsley RP | BAL
Orioles' Ryan Helsley: Slated for live BP on Tuesday
Helsley (elbow) will throw a live batting practice session Tuesday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.
It will be Helsley's first time facing hitters since he went down with right elbow inflammation in late June. If things go well Tuesday, Helsley's next step could be a rehab assignment. The veteran reliever is tracking toward a return later this month, though the Orioles could opt to shut him down if they fall out of the wild-card race.

Peter Strzelecki RP | STL
Cardinals' Peter Strzelecki: Ready for rehab assignment
Strzelecki (forearm) has been sent to Triple-A Memphis to begin a rehab assignment, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Strzelecki landed on the 15-day injured list nearly two weeks ago with right forearm extensor inflammation. Because his absence has been brief, the reliever shouldn't require many rehab appearances. He's eligible for activation Friday and has a chance to be ready by that date.

Jose Leclerc RP | SD
Jose Leclerc: Becomes free agent
The Padres released Leclerc on Monday.
Leclerc inked a minor-league contract with the Padres in March as he continued to work his way back from right shoulder surgery. The 32-year-old reliever returned to game action in July but posted a 7.77 ERA and 26:12 K:BB over 24.1 frames between three minor-league affiliates.
