Johnson (ankle) will not play Tuesday against the Warriors. As expected, Johnson will miss a third straight game to end the season. He had begun to pick up increased minutes over the past few weeks, but the ex-Piston never made much of an impact after coming over at the trade deadline.
Johnson (ankle) had been ruled out of Sunday's game against the Kings. Johnson will miss a second-straight game because of a left ankle bruise Sunday. With five other players officially out, look for Dairis Bertans, Solomon Hill and Ian Clark to see extra run.
Johnson is out for Friday's matchup against the Suns due to a left ankle bruise. The Pelicans' rotation gets even thinner. In Johnson's place, Dairis Bertans, Solomon Hill and Ian Clark are all candidates to see extra run.
Johnson posted 10 points (4-7 FG, 2-3 3Pt), four assists, two rebounds, two steals and one block in 20 minutes Thursday in the Pelicans' 121-118 win over the Kings. There was more playing time to go around than usual for the New Orleans reserves with five players unavailable for the contest due to injury and Darius Miller exiting early due to a hip issue. Johnson and Christian Wood (25 points, nine boards, three steals in 28 minutes) were the main two bench players that took advantage, with the former reaching double figures in the scoring column for third time in four games. The non-contending Pelicans are likely to act conservatively with their banged-up players down the stretch, so Johnson could have a fairly clear path to around 20 minutes per game down the stretch.
Johnson recorded 18 points (6-13 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 4-5 FT), four rebounds, three assists, and two steals in 28 minutes during Wednesday's 119-96 loss to the Magic. Johnson scored almost as many points in this one as he did through his first 12 appearances with the Pelicans (20). Moreover, this was the first time through 13 games that he has earned more than 20 minutes. With Jrue Holiday (abdomen), E'Twaun Moore (quadriceps), and Anthony Davis (rest) sidelined and the franchise focused on developing the younger players, Johnson seems like he's going to have a chance to show what he can do across the last eight games of 2018-19. Nevertheless, he's not exactly an appealing option for most fantasy formats.
