The Heat have fully guaranteed Robinson's contract for the 2019-20 season, Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press reports. Undrafted in 2018. Robinson appeared in 15 games for Miami last season while also spending time in the G League. The Heat apparently like what they've seen from the former Michigan standout, who's in line to make roughly $1 million next season. Robinson will likely remain in a limited role, but his immediate future is no longer hanging in the balance.
Robinson furnished 13 points (4-15 FG, 2-10 3Pt, 3-4 FT), four rebounds, four assists and three steals across 33 minutes during the Heat's 90-87 loss to the Timberwolves in a Las Vegas Summer League game Wednesday. Robinson struggled with efficiency, but his aggressive play helped lead him to a strong final line overall. The 25-year-old has averaged a solid 15.3 points (on 45.0 percent shooting), 5.0 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.0 steal across 29.0 minutes over four games in Las Vegas, but he'll presumably remain relatively far down the depth chart at both shooting guard and small forward to open training camp. It's worth noting Robinson also put together an impressive G League stint in 2018, averaging 21.4 points (on 51.4 percent shooting, including 48.3 percent from three-point range), 4.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.0 steal across 36.9 minutes (33 games).
Robinson (rest) will start Friday's Las Vegas Summer League game against Team China, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports. Robinson missed Wednesday's game for rest purposes but is back in action for the LVSL opener.
Robinson won't play in Wednesday's summer league game against the Warriors, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports. The Heat played Tuesday night, so Robinson will get Wednesday afternoon's contest off for rest.
Robinson scored 15 points (5-12 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 2-3 FT) and added five rebounds, three assists and two steals in 36 minutes Wednesday against Brooklyn. Robinson had the finest performance of his season Wednesday, topping double-digits scoring for the first time this year. The rookie forward's played sparingly, averaging 8.9 minutes, 2.5 points and 1.0 rebound across 14 games. Despite the lack of playing time, Robinson inked a deal Wednesday that will keep him in Miami for the foreseeable future.
