Doumbouya finished with six points (2-7 FG, 0-4 3PT, 2-3 FT) and three rebounds in Monday's loss to Washington. Doumbouya has been a hot name on the waiver wire over the last few weeks, but he's now been very quiet in back-to-back games. On Saturday against Atlanta, Doumbouya had just four points and four rebounds in 28 minutes. His 23 minutes Monday marked his fewest since Jan. 9 and his second-fewest since taking over as the interim starter at power forward on Jan. 2.
Doumbouya scored a team-high 24 points (10-13 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 2-4 FT) while adding two rebounds, an assist and a steal in 28 minutes during Wednesday's 116-103 win over the Celtics. Making his eighth straight start, the rookie set a new career high in scoring while leading the Pistons to an impressive 60.3 percent shooting percentage from the floor as a team. Doumbouya is averaging 14.0 points, 5.3 boards, 1.5 threes and 1.0 steals in 30.5 minutes since moving into the starting five.
Doumbouya delivered 16 points (6-9 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), eight rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block in 35 minutes during Monday's 117-110 overtime loss to the Pelicans. Doumbouya was efficient offensively while chipping in across every statistical category and earning the second-most minutes on the team. The rookie forward has scored in double figures in six of seven games here in January, this after combining to play 25 minutes through his first seven appearances this season. With the way the season has gone for Detroit, Doumbouya can likely be expected to continue earning plenty of minutes going forward.
Doumbouya scored eight points (3-5 FG, 2-2 3Pt), and added one rebound, one assist and one block in a loss to the Cavaliers on Thursday. That breaks the streak of four-straight games in which Doumbouya reached double-digit points. After spending nearly the entire first half of the season watching from the sidelines and mixing it up with the G League, the rookie had become a hot flier pickup in many fantasy leagues before this stinker. The newly-turned 19-year old had been posting very usable numbers in the four games since the start of 2020. With Blake Griffin (knee surgery) set to potentially miss the remainder of the season, and the Pistons' playoff hopes dwindling, Doumbouya should be first in line for a sizable role over the second half of the season.
Doumbouya scored 15 points (6-9 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 3-4 FT), had two boards and three steals in 33 minutes of a 115-113 win against the Cavaliers on Tuesday. Doumbouya made his fourth consecutive start as the rookie continues to earn an increased role in the rotation. He's now scored in double figures in each of his four starts, although he hasn't been as effective of a rebounder since moving to the small forward position. He'll go up against the Cavaliers once again on Thursday.
