Dronov and the Hurricanes mutually agreed to terminate his contract Wednesday.
Dronov signed a one-year, two-way contract with Carolina on Monday, but it looks like he probably requested to have his deal terminated in order to pursue more lucrative opportunities overseas. The 24-year-old Russian picked up one assist through six KHL appearances last season.
