Wideman put seven shots on goal Thursday in Tampa, but was rewarded with no points and a minus-1 rating in a 4-1 loss. He also took an interference penalty.

It's impressive that Wideman was able to propel so many pucks on net in only 16:59 of ice time; even though his pointless streak is now at 11 games, that's a positive sign. Don't forget, he put up a pretty ridiculous 112 points in 148 games for AHL Binghamton over the last two seasons, so the Miami of Ohio product has terrific offensive upside. What he doesn't have right now is top-four minutes, and it's going to take the 25-year-old some time to earn those as he learns how to survive as a smallish defenseman at the NHL level.
