If you've ever thought about joining a Tough Mudder race -- a 10-12 mile obstacle course -- you probably decided to sit on your couch and watch football instead.

That's because the race is incredibly challenging, full of insane obstacles sure to leave you exhausted, gratified and -- yes -- muddy.

The race has gotten even crazier though, as Tough Mudder has announced a series of new obstacles for 2017 -- some of which will debut at World's Toughest Mudder event in Las Vegas from Nov. 12-13. The grueling race will test 1,500 participants over a 24-hour period.

Here are the crazy new obstacles for 2017.

Augustus Gloop

Participants must enter into a chest-deep pit of water before ascending up a vertical tube. As they attempt to ascend through the confined tube, they'll be fighting off a waterfall of water as it gushes down on them from above.

Funky Monkey - The Revolution

This is a literal "spin" on Tough Mudder's classic Funky Monkey obstacle. Participants test their upper body strength to complete this challenge while transitioning from monkey bars to a series of revolving wheels - all while dangling over a pit of water.

Arctic Enema - The Rebirth

Participants slide down a confined, dark tube head first into an icy pool of water. If that's not enough, to get out of the freezing vessel participants must submerge themselves yet again under a wall into the icy water before escaping.

The Reach Around

Nearly 20 feet tall, this takes participants beyond vertical to climb one of our most challenging obstacles on the course. Playing up your fear of heights and adding an element of toughness, The Reach Around will take you to new heights and odd angles.

Snot Rocket

Before attempting to enter the vertical tube of this kicked-up Augustus Gloop, participants must pull their way through a steel fence-topped trench while floating on their back with only a few inches of air between water's surface and the fence.

Black Hole

Participants must crawl and push their way through a confining gauntlet of 100 lb water-filled barriers suspended above them, which creates total darkness as they try to make their way through.

Stage Five Clinger

If participants thought scaling one of the tallest obstacles on the course was hard, Legionnaires will have to come up with a new strategy. Stage Five Clinger is a nearly 20 foot tall obstacle, in which participants must navigate a series of ladders and monkey bars to traverse across while at a 90 degree angle.

Kong

Taking Legionnaire finish obstacles to new heights, literally, this giant, 30-foot obstacle will have participants swinging like Tarzan, traversing from one floating ring to another with increasing distance between them.
