As expected, the Oakland A's have announced that center fielder Yoenis Cespedes has been activated from the disabled list Friday. This was the corresponding roster move to pitcher Tyson Ross' Thursday demotion to Triple-A.

Cespedes, 26, was placed on the DL May 12, retroactive to May 7, with a strained muscle in his left hand.

The Cuban import was hitting .245/.319/.434 with five homers, 21 RBI and 10 runs in 28 games before his injury. Whether coincidence or not, the A's are 15-13 with Cespedes and 7-16 without him. Heading into Friday, they are mired in a season-long eight-game losing streak, so the sight of Cespedes should certainly boost spirits in Oakland.

Cespedes signed a four-year, $36 million contract with the A's this past offseason.
