Mets catcher John Buck is outrageously hot to open the season, enterting play Tuesday with a  major-league leading 19 RBI for a surprisingly strong Mets' offense. Despite that, our own Scott White has made his mistrust of Buck's Fantasy value extremely clear.

He probably has good reason for that. Nobody can deny Buck's power at the plate, as Buck ranks fourth among catchers in home runs since the 2010 season. Unfortunately, that is about all Buck does well, posting subpar walk and strikeout rates, while dragging a .238 batting average around his neck in that time.

Buck has come up with some timely hits this season, which is excellent for the Fantasy owners who got on board early and took advantage of his hot start. If you expect him to keep this up moving forward, you are likely in for a rude wake up call. Hanging on to an albatross hoping he can replicate a hot start is one of the biggest mistakes a Fantasy owner can make.

It is fine to squeeze whatever value you can out of Buck while he is hot. But as soon as he starts looking more like, well, John Buck, don't be slow in letting him go.
