Thursday night, Athletics outfielder Coco Crisp didn't like a low strike call from home plate umpire D.J. Reyburn and ended up being tossed afterward.
His crime? He tossed the bat toward Reyburn and the bat hit the umpire on the leg.
Even if inadvertent, which I believe it was, that's worthy of a suspension. That's exactly what Crisp has landed, with MLB announcing on Friday that he has been suspended one game.
Crisp can elect to appeal the suspension; otherwise, he'll serve it immediately.
Crisp, 36, is hitting .243/.306/.416 with 19 doubles, seven homers and five steals this season for the A's, who are in fourth place in the AL West at 37-49.
