Just in case anyone was wondering if there would be a bit of an overreaction to the Cubs hiring Joe Maddon, I believe we already have it.

Online sportsbook Bovada.lv opened the Cubs' 2015 World Series championship odds at 50-1 last week. With Maddon being unveiled as the manager in a press conference Monday, the odds have been chopped all the way down to 20-1.

As always with odds, let's keep in mind these aren't predictions. The odds are a function of the betting public, which means there is either already been so much action on the Cubs or there's so much anticipated action in the coming weeks on the Cubs that the sports book felt comfortable going all the way down to 20-1.

The only teams with better than 20-1 are the Dodgers, Nationals, Tigers, Angels, Giants, Cardinals, Royals and Mariners. The Orioles, Athletics, Pirates and Cubs are knotted at 20-1.

Needless to say, that's pretty significant movement for the hiring of a manager. If a marquee player or two are signed this coming offseason, it's going to get a bit out of control.
