Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton was removed in the eighth inning of Saturday's 9-2 loss to the Nationals due to soreness in his right foot and ankle, MLB.com reports.
X-rays on the foot were negative, but Stanton may sit out Sunday's series finale to rest the foot. He has been dealing with discomfort in the foot all week since rolling the ankle Sunday, but the pain worsened Saturday.
"It was just one of those days," Stanton said. "Today, it hurt, I don’t know why, more than almost the first day that it happened."
Stanton went 0 for 3 in the game before exiting, giving him a .249/.365/.473 line with 19 home runs and 46 RBI in 353 at-bats.
