With his single during the first inning Friday at Milwaukee, Cubs shortstop Starlin Castro extended his hitting streak to 11 games, which represents the longest active run in the National League this season. The solid stretch has also marked another achievement for the 23-year-old.

According to MLB.com, Castro has now registered eight hitting streaks of 10 or more games since the start of the 2011 campaign, his second full season in the majors. The mark ties Yankees slugger Robinson Cano for the most in the majors.
