Rays designated hitter Luke Scott could miss as long as five weeks of action, the Tampa Bay Times reports Sunday. Scott will be sidelined on the disabled list with a calf injury for 2-3 weeks minimum.
Shelley Duncan and Brandon Guyer are options for the DL spot in the lineup until Scott can return and take over. The 34-year-old Scott hit .324 this spring over 34 at-bats with three home runs and nine RBI.
Scott hit .229 last year over 96 games for the Rays with 14 home runs and 55 RBI. He hasn't played a relatively full season in the majors since 2010 with Baltimore.
