Blue Jays starter Mark Buehrle left his final start of the year against the Orioles early with a right calf contusion. He was hit by comebacker in the calf in the fourth inning. The injury cost Buehrle a shot at winning 13 games for a fifth consecutive year.
The left-hander yielded three runs on eight hits and no walks while striking out one over 3 1/3 innings before getting hurt. He received a no-decision.
Buehrle finished his 2013 campaign 12-9 with 4.15 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP in 203 2/3 innings pitched. He surpassed the 200-inning mark for the 13th consecutive season. Buehrle has made 429 straight starts without a stint on the disabled list.
