Thanks to an epic ninth-inning comeback by the Cubs that put an end to the Giants' even-year magic, we now know one the finalists for the National League Championship Series. Chicago will face the winner of the Dodgers and Nationals on Saturday. Meanwhile, the American League Championship Series matchup is already set with the Indians and Blue Jays , so it's time to check back in World Series probabilities for all five remaining teams.
Per SportsLine, here are the chances for each playoff team to win the LDS, LCS and World Series:
Team | LDS | Win LCS | Win WS |
Chicago Cubs | 100.0% | 54.4% | 28.6% |
Toronto Blue Jays | 100.0% | 58.9% | 28.5% |
Cleveland Indians | 100.0% | 41.1% | 19.3% |
Los Angeles Dodgers | 52.3% | 25.3% | 13.3% |
Washington Nationals | 47.7% | 20.2% | 10.3% |
Our previous models had the Cubs in third behind the Blue Jays and the Indians. After that historic rally, they have now leapfrogged both AL contenders. It's also interesting to note that even though the Nationals have Game 5 at home, they have the lowest chances out of all five clubs to win the World Series at 10.3 percent. Based on the projections, we should be gearing up for the Cubs-Blue Jays in the Fall Classic.
