Padres shortstop Everth Cabrera was suspended 50 games Monday for violating the joint drug prevention and treatment program in relation to the Biogenesis investigation, MLB announced. Cabrera's suspension will immediately go into effect and he will not appeal.
"The Padres fully support Major League Baseball's policy and its efforts to eliminate performance-enhancing drugs from our game," the team said in a press release. "The club will continue to stand behind the Commissioner’s Office to ensure the integrity of baseball."
