Polanco, 24, owns an OPS+ of 90 across part of two big-league seasons. He's stolen 41 bases in 242 career games and is also considered a standout defender in right. The Pirates originally signed Polanco as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic in 2009. Prior to arriving in the majors for good in 2014, he was a consensus overall top-20 prospect.
On Sunday, Polanco went 2-for-3 with a walk, double and two runs scored in the Pirates' 4-1 Opening Day win over the Cardinals. This season, the SportsLine Projection System tabs Polanco for a line of .246/.310/.364 with 24 steals.
Polanco is a large and athletic ballplayer with power potential.
