Rays outfielder Kevin Kiermaier has been removed from the leadoff spot for the Friday night game against the host Yankees. He is set to bat eighth, his lowest positioning since June 15.
Kiermaier was just 1-for-17 in the just-concluded four-game sweep at the hands of Cleveland. The swoon weakened his slash line to .251/.285/.408.
