Following the Royals' series-clinching Game 6 win over the Blue Jays on Friday night (KC 4, TOR 3), Kansas City shortstop Alcides Escobar was named the 2015 ALCS MVP.
During the six-game series against Toronto, Escobar batted .478 with six runs scored and five RBI out of the leadoff spot. As well, Escobar struck out just twice all series and of course provided standout defense at shortstop. Those offensive numbers constitute a big improvement over Escobar's regular-season outputs in 2015, as he batted just .257/.293/.320.
Escobar, 28, becomes the fourth Royal to win ALCS MVP, as he joins Lorenzo Cain last year, George Brett in 1985, and Frank White in 1980.
