Pirates' Jason Stoffel: Begins throwing again
Stoffel (shoulder) started playing catch earlier in March, Bill Brink of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
The non-roster invitee was experiencing some shoulder discomfort toward the end of February, but it seems like the pain is beginning to subside. However, the Pirates may opt to take things slowly in his recovery process given the extended length of spring training, so don't be surprised if Stoffel doesn't find his way into spring games for a while longer.

Pirates' Jason Stoffel: Bothered by shoulder discomfort
Stoffel did not participate in Sunday's team workout due to right shoulder discomfort, Stephen Nesbitt of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Stoffel signed a minor league deal with the Pirates this offseason which included an invitation to spring training. He's being listed as day-to-day with his shoulder discomfort, so the injury does not appear to be overly serious.

Pirates' Jason Stoffel: Signs minor league deal with Pirates
Stoffel signed a minor league contract with the Pirates on Wednesday that includes an invite to spring training, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Stephen Nesbitt reports.
Stoffel has never pitched in the majors, despite being 28 years old. His strikeout rate has ticked up in recent seasons, however, so he could have a chance of making the Pirates' bullpen and serving as a low-leverage reliever out of spring training.
