Tucker signed a minor-league contract with the Padres on Monday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports. Tucker played exclusively at Triple-A Gwinnett in 2022, slashing .267/.347/.426 with nine home runs, 47 RBI, one stolen base and 37 runs in 75 contests. He'll be an unlikely candidate to crack the Opening Day roster and hasn't seen any big-league action since the 2018 campaign during stops in Atlanta and Cincinnati.... See More ... See Less

Braves' Preston Tucker: Back with Atlanta organization
Tucker agreed Wednesday with Atlanta on a minor-league deal, Double-A Mississippi broadcaster Chris Harris reports. After three seasons abroad with the Kia Tigers of the Korea Baseball Organization, Tucker will continue his career stateside in 2022, rejoining one of the three MLB organizations he previously called home. Tucker, who had two separate stints with Atlanta in 2018, owns a .684 OPS across 651 plate appearances in parts of three seasons in the majors. The 31-year-old outfielder was one of the KBO's star hitters in his first two years with Kia, but after a major downturn in performance in 2021, he'll likely have to prove his worth at Triple-A Gwinnett before Atlanta entertains calling him up to the big club.... Preston Tucker: Re-signs with KBO team
Tucker re-signed Tuesday with the Korea Baseball Organization's Kia Tigers on a one-year, $1.05 million contract, Jeeho Yoo of the Yonhap News Agency reports. Tucker returns to the Tigers for a third season after he hit .306 to go with 32 home runs, 113 RBI and 100 runs in 2020. The 30-year-old could revisit a return to North America next winter, but he would most likely have to settle for a minor-league contract even if he's able to turn in another strong season abroad in 2021.... Preston Tucker: Heading abroad
Tucker will sign a contract with the KIA Tigers of the Korea Baseball Organization, Dan Kurtz of MyKBO.net reports. Tucker signed a minor-league deal with the White Sox in February and spent the first part of the 2019 season at Triple-A Charlotte. The 28-year-old has a career .222/.281/.403 major-league slash line over parts of three seasons with the Astros, Reds and Braves.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Preston Tucker: Lands with White Sox
Tucker agreed Saturday with the White Sox on a minor-league contract, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Tucker was able to win an outfield gig with the Braves last spring but struggled to produce and was later traded to the Reds before being dealt back to Atlanta again. Between the two organizations in 2018, Tucker slashed .229/.299/.404 across 184 plate appearances. His deal with the White Sox will afford him the opportunity to compete for a reserve job with the big club during spring training, though it's more likely than not that Tucker will be headed to Triple-A Charlotte when camp draws to a close.... Braves' Preston Tucker: Outrighted from 40-man roster
Tucker was outrighted to Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday. Tucker was cast off the 40-man roster in order to presumably make room for younger prospects that the Braves will protect this offseason. The 28-year-old played in 97 games split between Atlanta and Cincinnati this past year, slashing .229/.299/.404 with six home runs and 27 RBI.... See More ... See Less -
Braves' Preston Tucker: Activated Monday
Tucker was activated ahead of Monday's game against the Red Sox. Tucker will be available for the Braves' upcoming series against the Red Sox after being acquired from the Reds via trade over the weekend. The 28-year-old will offer outfield depth for Atlanta down the stretch, though he won't be available for the playoffs. Tucker owns a .240 batting average with six homers across 117 at-bats this season.... See More ... See Less -
Braves' Preston Tucker: Dealt to Atlanta
Tucker was traded from the Reds to the Braves on Sunday in exchange for cash considerations. After spending a little over a month with the Reds, Tucker will head back to Atlanta, where he spent the first 62 games of the 2018 season. He'd struggled through 17 games with Cincinnati, batting just .189 with a .286 OBS in 37-at-bats. Tucker could serve as an extra bat down the stretch of the regular season, as the Braves make a push for the playoffs.... See More ... See Less -
Reds' Preston Tucker: Optioned to Triple-A
Tucker was sent down to Triple-A Louisville on Thursday. Tucker was cast off the active roster in order to make room for Joey Votto (lower leg), who was reinstated from the disabled list prior to Thursday's contest. In 17 games with the Reds after joining the organization in late July, Tucker has gone just 7-for-37 (.189 average) with two home runs and five RBI. Though he will likely return to the big-league team in the coming weeks, he may not receive enough playing time to be of much value down the stretch.... See More ... See Less -
Reds' Preston Tucker: Losing more time
With Scott Schebler coming off the DL, Tucker will no longer be part of a platoon in either corner outfield spot, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports. The Reds want to give Phillip Ervin an extended look in left field, so on most days the trio of Ervin, Billy Hamilton and Schebler will be out there. Both Tucker and Mason Williams will be relegated to pinch-hit duty.... See More ... See Less -
Reds' Preston Tucker: Remains on bench Wednesday
Tucker is out of the lineup versus Milwaukee on Wednesday. Tucker will stay on the bench for the fourth time in the past five games as Phillip Ervin gets another start in left field. This marks Tucker's second straight absence against an opposing right-hander, so he appears to be entrenched in a reserve role for the time being.... See More ... See Less -
Reds' Preston Tucker: Out of lineup Tuesday
Tucker is not starting Tuesday against the Brewers. Tucker has now been out of the lineup for three of the last four games. The first two occasions came against lefties, but he's now sitting against righty Junior Guerra. The fact that he's hit just .194 since being shipped to Cincinnati at the deadline certainly doesn't help his case for more playing time. Phillip Ervin will start in left field while Mason Williams starts in right.... See More ... See Less -
Reds' Preston Tucker: Sits against another southpaw
Tucker will sit against southpaw Andrew Suarez and the Giants on Sunday, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic Cincinnati reports. Tucker hasn't started against a lefty since being sent to Cincinnati at the deadline. Dilson Herrera will get the start in left field.... See More ... See Less -
Reds' Preston Tucker: Sits vs. lefty
Tucker isn't in Saturday's starting lineup against the Giants, Kerry Crowley of The San Jose Mercury News reports. Tucker is slated for a day off as left-hander Madison Bumgarner toes the rubber for the opposition. Tucker is batting just .118 with three RBI in 17 at-bats against left-handers in 2018. Dilson Herrera will bat seventh and man left field in his stead.... See More ... See Less -
Reds' Preston Tucker: Back in Sunday's lineup
Tucker (foot) is starting in left field and batting seventh for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic Cincinnati reports. Tucker hasn't seen game action since being removed from Monday's game after being hit by a pitch on his left foot. The 28-year-old is 3-for-15 with a double and an RBI since being acquired by the Reds at the end of July.... See More ... See Less -
Reds' Preston Tucker: Remains out Friday
Tucker (foot) is not in the lineup against the Diamondbacks on Friday. Tucker will stay on the bench for a third straight game after suffering a left foot injury during Monday's tilt versus the Mets. He should be considered day-to-day ahead of Saturday's contest. Phillip Ervin will man left field and bat fifth in his absence.... See More ... See Less -
Reds' Preston Tucker: Sitting again Wednesday
Tucker (foot) is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Mets. With a team off-day looming Thursday, the Reds decided to hold Tucker out for the second game in a row in order to give him more time to recover. His absence will clear a spot in the lineup for Phillip Ervin, who will start in left field and hit second.... See More ... See Less -
Reds' Preston Tucker: Held out Tuesday
Tucker (foot) is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Mets, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports. Tucker went for X-rays after being hit on the left foot by a Noah Syndergaard pitch during Monday's series-opening loss, so it's no surprise to see him out of the lineup as he awaits the test results. He likely would have been relegated to the bench with a lefty (Jason Vargas) starting for the opposition anyway. Consider Tucker day-to-day for now. Phillip Ervin and Mason Williams are manning the corner outfield spots for the Reds in this one.... See More ... See Less -
Reds' Preston Tucker: Left foot injury
Tucker was hit by a Noah Syndergaard pitch on the left foot Monday night and had X-rays after the game, MLB.com's Mark Sheldon reports. Tucker was noticeably hampered while running the bases after the HBP in the seventh inning. With the Reds facing lefty Jason Vargas on Tuesday, Tucker probably won't start anyhow, but hopefully we'll have results from the exams later Tuesday.... See More ... See Less -
Reds' Preston Tucker: Headed for X-rays
Tucker was dealing with soreness following Monday's loss against the Mets, John Fay of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. The location of Tucker's injury is unknown, but more information should emerge after the results of the X-rays come back. Tucker went 1-for-2 with a run scored in Monday's 6-4 loss to New York....
