Johnny Field: Heads to indy ball
Field signed with the Kansas City Monarchs of the independent American Association on Tuesday, Brandon Warne of Access Twins reports.
Field played in 84 major-league games for the Rays and Twins in 2018, hitting .222/.254/.403. If he impresses in independent ball, he could wind up back with an MLB organization in the future, but his chances of making a significant impact are slim.

Cubs' Johnny Field: Sent to minor-league camp
Field was reassigned to minor-league camp Saturday, Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic reports.
Field was always a long shot to crack the Opening Day roster but performed well this spring with a .308/.390/.538 slash line and four home runs in 52 at-bats. The power stroke seems unlikely to continue given the 27-year-old's career high in the minors is 14 home runs, but he should nonetheless provide solid outfield depth at Triple-A Iowa.

Cubs' Johnny Field: Sent outright to Triple-A
Field went unclaimed on waivers Tuesday and was sent outright to Triple-A Iowa.
Field was claimed off waivers by the Cubs at the start of November and will remain in the organization after being removed from the 40-man roster last week. The 26-year-old should provide outfield depth for the Cubs next season after posting a .222/.254/.403 slash line over 83 games in his rookie campaign with the Rays and Twins.

Cubs' Johnny Field: Claimed by Cubs
Field was claimed off waivers by the Cubs on Thursday, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports.
This marks the fourth different organization Field will call home dating back to the beginning of the season. After spending the first four months of the year with Tampa Bay, he was briefly claimed by Cleveland before winding up on the Twins for the remainder of the campaign. Field played in 84 big-league games during his rookie season, hitting just .222/.254/.403 with nine home runs, 21 RBI and four stolen bases. He will serve as additional outfield depth for Chicago heading into next year.

Twins' Johnny Field: Goes deep twice
Field went 2-for-4 with two home runs, three RBI and two strikeouts in Wednesday's win over the Tigers.
Field took starter Matthew Boyd deep for a solo homer in the second inning and then later knocked Boyd out of the game with a two-run shot in the fourth inning. The 26-year-old is now slashing .217/.251/.396 with nine homers and 20 RBI.

Twins' Johnny Field: Sets career high with four hits
Field went 4-for-5 with a double, a homer, two RBI and two runs scored in a 9-6 win over Kansas City on Sunday.
The rookie outfielder had a career day and hit his first long ball since June 1. Still, Field owns an unsightly .212 average in 203 at-bats with the Twins and Rays this season.

Twins' Johnny Field: Recalled from Triple-A
Field has been called up from Triple-A Rochester.
Field has hit just .200/.240/.346 in the majors this season, but he could get some spot starts in September with Eddie Rosario hurt.

Twins' Johnny Field: Sent back to Rochester
Field was optioned to Triple-A Rochester following Saturday's game, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
An 0-for-2 showing in Saturday's game dropped Fields' batting line to .200/.240/.346 for the season. The expectation is that Robbie Grossman will take his place on the roster. Fields may be up in September, although it's not a lock that he's still on the Twins' 40-man when rosters expand.

Twins' Johnny Field: Summoned to majors
Field was recalled from Triple-A Rochester on Monday, Brandon Warne of ZoneCoverage.com reports.
Field will join the Twins for the first time since being claimed off waivers over the weekend. The 26-year-old will take the roster spot of Robbie Grossman, who was sent to the disabled list with a hamstring strain in a corresponding roster move. Field owns a lackluster .213/.253/.373 slash line across 62 major-league games this season and should primarily serve as a reserve outfielder during his time with the big club.

Twins' Johnny Field: Claimed by Minnesota
Field was claimed off waivers by the Twins on Friday and optioned to Triple-A Rochester, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
Field was recently DFA'd by the Indians after joining the organization just over a week ago last Tuesday. Prior to his stint in Cleveland, he played in 63 games for the Rays this year, slashing .213/.253/.373 with six home runs, 14 RBI and four stolen bases.

Indians' Johnny Field: Claimed by Indians
Field was claimed off waivers by the Indians on Tuesday and optioned to Triple-A Columbus, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
Cleveland is lacking organizational outfield depth and will bring in Field, who was designated for assignment by the Rays last weekend. However, he could very well be cut again if the Indians swing more trades in the next week leading up to the deadline. Field hit just .213/.253/.373 with 58 strikeouts in 179 plate appearances with Tampa Bay.

Rays' Johnny Field: Designated for assignment
Field was designated for assignment by the Rays on Friday.
Field appeared in 63 games for the Rays this season, hitting just .213/.253/.373 with a very low walk rate (3.9 percent) and a very high strikeout rate (32.4 percent). He was removed from the 25-man roster before the break and is now off the 40-man roster as well. It remains to be seen whether or not another team thinks he's worth taking a chance on with a waiver claim.

Rays' Johnny Field: Sent to Triple-A
Field was optioned to Triple-A Durham on Tuesday.
With Field falling out of his regular role, the Rays will send him to Triple-A to get regular work. He hit .213/.253/.373 with six home runs and four steals in 179 plate appearances with the big club. Ji-Man Choi was recalled in a corresponding move.

Rays' Johnny Field: Loses hold of regular role
Field is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Nationals, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Field will head to the bench for the third straight contest and for the fourth time in six games. The rookie had settled in as the Rays' primary left fielder earlier this month, but the recent return of Kevin Kiermaier from the disabled list has pushed Field to the bench on a more regular basis. If Field had been running hot at the plate, the Rays likely would have found a way to consistently squeeze him into the starting nine, but he has submitted an ugly .172/.213/.276 line across 20 June games.

Rays' Johnny Field: In Wednesday's lineup
Field (knee) will start in left field and bat seventh against Toronto on Wednesday.
Field has been sidelined for the past two games with a minor right knee injury but the outfielder is back in the starting nine for Wednesday's series finale. An MRI revealed no structural damage, so he should be good to go moving forward.

Rays' Johnny Field: Dealing with knee injury
Field, who is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays, is dealing with a minor right knee injury, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
This better explains Field's absence from the starting lineup for a second straight game. The outfielder apparently tweaked his knee during Sunday's loss to the Mariners, though a subsequent MRI revealed no structural damage and he's expected to rejoin the starting nine soon. Field will be available off the bench Tuesday if needed.

Rays' Johnny Field: Remains on bench Tuesday
Field is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
With Tuesday's absence, Field will find himself on the bench for a second straight game and the third time in four contests. Rob Refsnyder, who is hitting .192/.337/.315 on the season, will once again start in left field his stead. Field is hitting .256/.285/.464 through 39 games this season.

Rays' Johnny Field: Day off Monday
Field is not in the lineup Monday against Toronto, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Field sits the day after a two-hit performance against the Mariners on Sunday. He's hitting a respectable .256/.285/.464 on the season. Rob Refsnyder will start in left field.

Rays' Johnny Field: Raps out pair of hits Sunday
Field went 2-for-4 with a double and a run in a loss to the Mariners on Sunday.
Field has already generated three multi-hit efforts over the first eight games of June, a span during which he's also driven in four runs. The 26-year-old outfielder has been putting good wood on the ball during the new month as well, rapping out four extra-base hits (three doubles, one home run) and generating a 35.7 percent hard contact rate.
