  • Athletics' Trey Supak: Joining A's as NRI

Supak has signed a minor-league deal with the A's and received an invitation to spring training. The 24-year-old was let go by the Brewers at the start of November but will now receive an opportunity with Oakland. Supak was named the Southern League's Most Outstanding Pitcher in 2019 after delivering a 2.20 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 91:23 K:BB over 122.2 innings at Double-A, but he struggled once moving up to Triple-A. He was at Milwaukee's alternate training site in 2020 and spent one day in the majors but didn't pitch.

  • Trey Supak: Reaches free agency

Supak elected free agency Monday. One year after being named the Southern League's Most Outstanding Pitcher, Supak will be in search of a new organization this offseason. Though he spent most of the 2020 campaign on the Brewers' 40-man roster, Supak didn't get the opportunity to make his big-league debut before being exposed to waivers in mid-September. The right-hander will likely be in the mix for a minor-league deal this winter and should get the chance to a compete for a rotation spot with an organization's Triple-A squad.

  • Brewers' Trey Supak: Remains in organization

Supak cleared waivers and was outrighted to the Brewers' alternate site Wednesday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. The Brewers designated Supak for assignment Monday but will get to keep him as part of the organization. He produced a 3.60 ERA and a 1.03 WHIP in 27 starts across the two highest levels of the minors last season, though he struck out a modest 19.2 percent of opposing batters.

  • Brewers' Trey Supak: Loses 40-man spot

The Brewers designated Supak for assignment Monday. Given that he claimed the Southern League Most Outstanding Pitcher Award in 2019 after submitting a 2.20 ERA and 0.88 WHIP over 20 starts with Double-A Biloxi, Supak's removal from the 40-man roster comes as somewhat of a surprise. Given that he's just 24 years old, Supak could have some appeal for an organization looking for a developmental option for the Triple-A rotation in 2021. The 6-foot-5 righty is more of a control artist that gets by on inducing weak contact rather than overpowering hitters, so his fantasy upside will likely be somewhat muted if he surfaces in the big leagues down the road.

  • Brewers' Trey Supak: Sent down by Brewers

Supak was optioned to the Brewers' alternate training site Tuesday. Supak was called up by the Brewers on Monday as the Brewers leaned heavily on their bullpen, but the right-hander didn't make his major-league debut. He'll now head back to Appleton but could be an option in the bullpen later this season.

  • Brewers' Trey Supak: Set for big-league debut

Supak was recalled from the alternate training site Monday. With the Brewers set for a bullpen game Monday against the Pirates, we could see Supak make his big-league debut. He logged a 2.20 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 91 strikeouts in 122.2 innings at Double-A last year but gave up six home runs in 30 innings in the Pacific Coast League. The Brewers may continue to develop Supak as a starter long term, but he should work as a reliever while up with the big club this year.

  • Brewers' Trey Supak: Joins 60-man roster

Supak was added to the Brewers' 60-man roster Thursday. Supak was one of the few Brewers left out of the initial roster pool, but he'll get the chance to work at the team's alternate training site among some of the organization's top prospects. The right-hander was a non-roster invitee this spring, where he tossed three scoreless innings, giving up four hits and one walk while striking out three in Cactus League play.

  • Brewers' Trey Supak: Optioned to minor league camp

Supak was optioned to minor league camp Monday. Supak appeared in three spring games this season after pitching in just one a year ago, but that was mainly to get him some seasoning, as he was always a long shot at best to break camp with the big club. Supak's season figures to begin with Triple-A San Antonio, and he will be looking for far better results after being tagged for 31 earned runs over 30 innings pitched at the level last season. Supak was added to the 40-man roster over the offseason, so if he can turn things around he could get a chance to make his big-league debut at some point in 2020.

  • Brewers' Trey Supak: Promoted to Triple-A

Supak was promoted to Triple-A San Antonio on Friday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Supak has been solid with Double-A Biloxi this season, posting a 2.20 ERA and 0.88 WHIP with a 91:23 K:BB over 122.2 frames. He'll take one step close to the big leagues following Friday's promotion.

  • Brewers' Trey Supak: Just misses no-hitter again

Supak fell one out short of a no-hitter Tuesday for the second time this season. Supak threw 8.2 hitless innings in a May 30 start, and -- in a game scheduled for only seven innings -- he threw 6.2 hitless frames Tuesday before allowing a hit to the second-to-last batter he faced. While the no-hitters have eluded him, they help illustrate just how well Supak has pitched this season: over 19 starts with Double-A Biloxi, he has gone 10-4 with a 2.15 ERA, 0.85 WHIP, 85:21 K:BB and .189 BAA over 117 innings.

  • Brewers' Trey Supak: One out short of no-hitter

Supak threw 8.2 hitless innings in a game with Double-A Biloxi on Thursday, allowing a double to the last batter he faced before being removed from the game. Supak came as close as possible to a no-hitter Thursday, but ultimately saw his bid fall short. Despite the heartbreaking finish, Supak still managed to allow zero earned runs for the third outing in a row -- a span over which he threw 22.1 innings to lower his ERA from 2.76 to a sparkling 1.85. Supak isn't a big strikeout guy, but he now owns a 2.44 career ERA at the Double-A level. It seems likely the 23-year-old will get his first taste of Triple-A action at some point this summer.

  • Brewers' Trey Supak: Banished from big-league camp

Supak was optioned to minor-league camp. While he lacks an above-average fastball (typically 90-92 mph), Supak has all the other ingredients typically found in a back-end starter. He will likely head to Triple-A and could make his big-league debut in September.

  • Brewers' Trey Supak: Moved onto 40-man roster

Supak's contract was purchased from Double-A Biloxi on Tuesday, Robert Murray of The Athletic reports. Supak impressed across stops at Biloxi and High-A Carolina in 2018, prompting the Brewers to add him to their 40-man roster in advance of the Rule 5 draft. The 22-year-old right-hander posted a combined 2.48 ERA and 1.13 WHIP across 25 starts between the Mudcats and Shuckers.

  • Brewers' Trey Supak: Finding his stride at Double-A

Supak threw six scoreless innings in a start with Double-A Biloxi on Monday. Supak has been lights-out of late, as Monday's outing marked the fifth time in seven starts he went at least five innings while giving up no runs. He has had a nice 2018 campaign, recording a 1.76 ERA over nine starts with High-A Carolina and a 3.12 ERA through 15 starts with Biloxi while posting a 119:42 K:BB in 131.2 innings between both levels.

  • Brewers' Trey Supak: Throwing well for High-A squad

Supak is 1-0 with a 0.60 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 15:7 K:BB in 15 innings over three starts with High-A Carolina. Supak struggled a bit out of the gate after being promoted to Carolina last summer, but he posted a 2.41 ERA over his final eight appearances of 2017, and that has carried over to the start of the current campaign.
